Now before I say this, I know you guys are out to smear mr thomas and i have no legion either way.......

BUT

why all the hostility towards him? seems as though the rug was pulled out from under him imo... again i know some of u must kno him better not to like him, but i just trying to figure out why. seems like he was trying to do the right things

too bad all has went down this way, i hope nobody got taken for any money

I was kind of wondering the same thing, especially when the professionals from other tracks are part of the bashing both here and on Facebook.

A while back the discussion about Tri City started in another thread about a sheriff's sale. There was a specific plot of land in the sheriff's sale and it was public record. Back then out of curiosity I went to the online records of the sale and found the specific plot of land. The land I found which is the only land I'm writing about, was land locked except for a plotted road through over grown woods, per google earth view, that went from north of the current entrance to the road to the pit entrance. The land included the stands and the track with the exception of turns three and four. I did not find any of the rest of the land around the track, to be part of the sheriff's sale. I'm not going to search again because I don't care since, the track appears to not be opening. But if someone else wants to, I think finding out the disposition of the parcel which was up for sheriff's sale, might explain some things. For the track to open or to be sold as a race track, all the parties which have the included land deeded to them, must agree to it. As far as what the deal was to open the track, other then being interesting it's really none of our business unless we were hurt by the deal. But public record is open to everyone and is everyone's business, that's why it's public.

I think a lot of the hate comes from the fact that he gave people a lot of false hope. And once people did a little research, they found that he's a slimy politican type who's basically failed at every venture he's ever tried.

When we started going to Tri City back in the sixties, the entrance was in a different location. The description you gave seems to match the entrance at that time. Maybe Mr. Tarr had to purchase additional land at that time to allow for the expansion. Good research on your part. :)

I think I can speak for everyone on this board when I say that we wish we were half as interesting, rich, motivated, charitable, as Mike Thomas would have you believe he actually is. On the website. It actually reads that someone once said of him (name of person never listed)," Mike Thomas has been described as an "unlimited supply of creative energy" and a "dreamer beyond his years." There may be some truth there. He dreamed he was about to buy, open and operate Tri City with what seems like very little capital, and no hands on expertise.

Thomas told exploreVenango.com that the Tri-City acquisition deal that was originally in place was not completed by the February 28 deadline because financing from an investment bank in San Francisco was temporarily withdrawn on February 27. Financing was withdrawn “for reasons due to the investment bank,” according Thomas, who says he has the documents to back up his claims. The documents Thomas is referring to are currently being reviewed and confirmed by exploreVenango.com staff. Thomas says he has funding in place from another investment bank and intends to follow through with the purchase of Tri-City. “I intend to close the deal,” said Thomas. “I still have the keys to the property.” Thomas also indicated that he is seeking legal action against the original investment bank for not following through on promised capital. Hill could not be reached for further comment.

This guy is like Baghdad Bob. According to the article, he "still has the keys" to the property. It will be his. He is going to sue the San Francisco bank that reneged on the loan. Spoken like a man with a paper ass and a mouth full of firecrackers. I got a news flash for ya, Mike. Even if in some one in ten thousand chance you end up buying the track, you've destroyed any credibility you might have had. You won't get any top division cars and even less fans. Stick to fantasizing. And, I love that "portfolio". I'd wager that any ten year old kid with Internet access and Photoshop could come up with something more believable and impressive.
