I elect not to voice an opinion to the video, but I will say; I really hope all track owners and officials put in the proper rules and safety devices to prevent this from ever happening again at any track.  

I don't know what you'd do. You can't fix stupid. Drivers get angry, some of them leave their car in search of justice. Short of suspending or banning them IF they don't get killed or worse, I can't think of a solution off the top of my head.

 

It's tragic that a young man lost his life. I feel for his family. It's tragic for Tony Stewart as well. This incident may have ended his career. At the very least, he may never be the same after this, and it didn't need to happen. It puts an unjustified black eye on Sprint car racing because people feel they know enough about it to comment on it when they can't tell the difference between Sprint car and Sprint Cup.

Most if not all race series mandate every driver wearing a raceceiver and the race director/official is in the ear of every driver. The person talking to the drivers is the eyes for all of the drivers on the track. This should be mandatory at every track.

If they all had them that night, I would have hoped the person on the raceceiver was telling them that a person was on the track. When a driver starts to exit their car go to a red flag. If you have good officials they will know when a driver is looking for answers.

There are proper rules pertaining to exactly this........STAY IN YOUR CAR AT ALL TIMES DO NOT GET OUT.
There really isn't any safety devise to prevent someone from getting out of the car and running at a moving racecar.
The car being on fire would be the only legitimate reason to get out of the car.

It's a true tragedy as it is with any death . I do NOT believe tony hit him on purpose. I do believe ward ran a little too far down the track towards Stewart and got hit by the wing and / or run over by the right rear tire. I don't think enough can be seen by that video to make a decision, very blurry images and poor lighting to really tell for sure. I know I could not convict Stewart of anything intentional based on that video.

Hopefully all people involved will be able to come to peace within themselves with what has happened.

Here's what's clear .... What happened is classic Darwinism aka natural selection , the morons die of their own stupidity and it makes the species stronger . I don't feel bad for him because he comitted suicide I don't feel bad for the parents because they raised him to be that stupid , tony is the only one I feel bad for in the whole deal

Yeah, really, because some 20 year old Sprint car driver from upstate NY was some sort of religious fanatic that tried to murder thousands of Americans in an intentional suicide terrorist attack with said Sprint car. Brilliant observation. What, no comment about the size of his manhood?

Don't really think what Huck is saying is really wrong he is telling the truth, unfortunately Stewart has to live with what he has done and it wasn't even his fault.

Tony is one of the 5 best drivers to ever race a car period. It's a shame he now has to live with this little pole smoker killing himself on the side of his race car. The second he was able to race after the broken leg he was back and this has kept him out for a month and counting . I feel bad for tony and only him

Veteran driver Chuck Hebing was in the #45 car right in front of Stewart.  I am still waiting for him to make some kind of statement on what happened!!   Such might clear the air somewhat, but so far nothing has been heard from Hebing that I know of.  Maybe the cops are hushing him up???

i have driven these cars,the right side board on the top wing will block out an entire car let alone a person standing there,i now work on the 45 car in the video and the driver said he just saw him at the last second and just missed him,Tony had even less time to react to the situation.people in the stands or watching this video have no idea how fast these thing happen and how limited our view is inside the car.it was a very bad turn of events that happened but we all know the dangers involved in the sport we love.

I'll just say maybe we should lock them in with chains so they can't get out then we can really bitch when people burn alive in there cars rules say stay in your car unless it's on fire that's it if I got a problem of how your driving on the road I not going to jump out in front of you doing 55 and expect you to stop on a dime makes no sense to me what happened here was something awful that's now gonna hurt the sport even more now there gonna sue sponsers and tony Stewart racing now they won't sponsers nothing there goes lots of money over some guy getting mad over nothing nothing in this world besides my kids and family is worth me risking my life for a little mix up on a race track is not worth my life for

The comparison is completely retarded. The 911 episode was the result of a criminal act of terrorism. More like an act of war. This kid, and he was a kid, made a mistake that cost him his life. But, I suppose in your perfect world, you never did anything stupid that could have gotten you killed or maimed when you was younger, right?
