If I cut employees and stop buying equipment and stop doing home shows that would save me 100k or more per year !!! Is that a good business move though ???

There are only 12 scheduled nights without super lates, add in the cash they will not see from the supers not being there, they stand to profit more money but not a huge amount. Hopefully ,their plan is to spend that profit on improvements and advertising and new equipment.

Were you able to say that with a straight face?  How many "investments" have they made out there since they've owned it?

My point is that they could make more money by running supers as a special half the season rather than running them as part of their weekly show.

what they do with that cash is up to them. If that extra cash merely helps them stay above water and make some kind of profit to stay in buisness, then great. If it helps them make improvements to the 3 major isssues at the track ( STANDS, LIGHTING, AND THE WALL) then that is even better.

Your calculations are based on the flawed liberal assumption that the word is static not dynamic. It assumes the same amount of people will still show up with or without superlates, the same amount of beer and food will be sold. It's like when liberals assume that rasing taxes 10% will generate 10% more revenue ... It doesn't work that way because people adjust their behavior . It also assumes the guys who ran weekly in the supers will sit home and wait for their chance to race and show up with bells on instead of finding another track or selling their stuff. The reason the place doesn't make any money is because they had no fans , the reason they had no fans is because the averaged 13 super lates a week. The reason they averaged 13 super lates a week are due to horrendous management for a long time. For instance the moat around the bottom .... How many left sides were ripped off by a car on the out side getting hit by a guy who hit the water hazard ? How many pointless crashes happened due to the water hazard ? How many packs of tear offs were wasted on a dead slick dusty track due to the water hazard . People who have the money to race super lates have logic and common sense that allowed them to obtain that money .... When they see some moron flooding the inside 20ft of a race track for no reason that offended their logic and common sense. They want to get the super lates to run cheaper motors to hopefully encourage more people to buy super lates ... So what do they do .... For the majority of the season they run the water truck non stop so the big motors dominate lol lol lol . How many crate cars were wrecked by the green being thrown in the first heat before the track was run in fully ??? How many times were cars swerving across the track in front of the leaders sat down an explained to hold their line when they see the move over flag ? The place doesn't need 10 million dollars invested it needs to be run with logic and common sense.

Hucks  right, the few of us super late people got to wonder if its worth waiting almost eight months to race , &  only race three months a year when you have a bunch of $$ sitting ,not that our team race a whole bunch,,,,,,might be time to buy something else,,,

I can see the crowd going down hill even further now since the main division on dirt wont be there half the season.

Also for the teams, is it worth it to buy 1600s to race 3 months at that track.. or is it worth it to buy ump tires to race at lernerville where they pay more for the entire season?

Willie- I think 13 is being generous. Most nights I remember there were 9-11. Barely 2, 5 car heats. I'm curious to see if any money will get added to the remaining classes. Totally fine with pit admission remaing the same if so.

I agree. Lernerville is not an option for some of us. I go to PPMS on nights even when our car isn't running, but now I can see myself sitting home, or going elsewhere, as I won't make an hour 1/2 trip to watch Crates and Sportsman. This past season most nights they had a few hundred people in the stands, I have to really doubt if 50-100 will be there on the the nights the Lates are not there. They may make money on not having the lates, but I would bet it will all come from the back gate not the front.

I remember before the stocks were the same way in the past 2 years, some nights they had the same car counts as lates. Also with emods and they dropped them. So basically your having 2 divisions that GET PAID, and 3 divisions that dont?

You have to remember that even if they had sex offender appreciation night Vince would still defend it as long as it's Matt's idea. The last moves of a dying business model are cutting departments / classes ....

i am just a regular fan and I wont pay 15 dollars to see just the crates etc.  its not like they are getting 20 cars in each of those divisions anyway to even make it even remotely something you want to pay for and drive from Greensburg to see. like I said I am just a fan of the sport but why would the superlate drivers want to wait until june to race.  its a shame since they seemed to have added some nice sprint shows and other late model shows.  if they wanted to cut down on some super shows they would have been better to spread that out.  I will bet that when the supers do start to run the fan base will have dwindled and there will be even less late models.

If they charge ten bucks to get in the shows that don't have supers, they might might actually make some money on those nights. They can't charge headline class prices for a support class show.

Trying to arguing a track dropping its headline division is like arguing Ebola in the United States is a good thing or arguing Islam is the religion of peace. Contrary to liberal opinion a business staying open for 30 years doesn't mean it's run well or making money, it just means it's owners are willing to plow forward without any significant return for their effort . Making boat loads of money means a business is successful..... If your making money you don't cut your primary source of income / fans

Drive 1 hr north to lernerville and for $14 you get to see the top 3 divisions on dirt. They did a good job this yr with running the shows and getting us out by 1030-11pm on a lot of nights.

I would love to see Mercer Raceway Park pick up a few more nights of super late models. What's everyone's thoughts on that?
