BY the way before someone gets started on my grammar, I know how to spell and write, but I am on a tablet too. I will go back and correct it once I get to a real computer. So don'twaste your breath.

I miss tracks being fastrak. it was fun at the time. as for goodyears, I loved them. the racing was just as good, but we had all beginers to the lm, so it took time to learn the cars. ran about 6 tires all year. that was savings I tell you. drivers have pled with tracks, and they do there own thing. I can't have my car sit in the garage to protest. what do you do? stan, if I hit the powerball, you'd have a partner, and we would clean up this three different tires needed bs. I can only wish..........

Competition is good. What if Henry Ford would have never raced Alexander Winton? What if McDonalds didn't have Burger King? I've raced in both series', and personally, I prefer RUSH, although I appreciate what Fastrak did to lay the groundwork for a traveling Crate series. (I'll give a lot of credit to local track PPMS for starting Crate racing in this area. As they were doing it a short time before Fastrak was started). I think the bigger issue is as car counts drop in every class, the crate LM class remains fairly strong. However, every track in the region thinks that Crate racing is the savior to racing. Nearly every track in the area runs Crates now, and the cars are just spread too thin. Pair that with a well followed touring series in the area, and there just aren't enough cars to go around. It's a shame to see Sharon not running crates, I enjoyed racing there a few times.

So I guess the crate guys don't care about the massively reduced point fund because they know they can't beat pegher or Blair anyway ??? Lol . I don't see how crate guys can't look back at the money just those 2 guys collected from fastrack and not be pissed that some jack offs ruined that opportunity for them ...

I don't have the time or money to follow either series, so I can't speak to that. But obviously those two are two of the best in the country, and I always thought it was kind of awesome that they both raced in this area. It makes you step your game up if you want to win around here. And when you talk about running for reduced money...that's not really true. Just about the only difference in money comes from the big $20,000+ championship races that they have had at the end of the year. But the actual points funds paid for the weekly and traveling championships are about the same. Having that big paying race is only rewarding a few people...just like a local guy trying to go win the Dream. It's just not likely.

You're exactly right Justin... and not to mention, where did all that money go to?  A super late model team....

How many big Late model Series' are there in the country? It's no different than that. The only difference in rules is the tires. I know you feel like Rush screwed Stan...but it's no different than any other business. If you grew up working for some guy that built decks, and you got really good at it and thought, hey...I could start my own business and build better decks, and make more money, would you just keep working for that same guy out of principle? Did you know that Caddilac was started by a group of guys that were part owner of the Detroit Automobile Company (later the Henry Ford Company) after Henry Ford left his own namesake company because he thought he could do better on his own? That's business.

I agree that eventually workers branch out and do their own thing but it's different when you go behind your employers back and sign binding 3 year contracts behind his back without ever mentioning you were unhappy . If a guy did that to me he would be starting with nothing , he wouldn't be able take my customers he would have to start from square one and establish his own reputation , it's not at all the same thing. They took stans business and literally stole it behind his back. The only poetic justice is that by doing so they are killing the business and making it worthless as car counts dwindle due to increasing costs and less cars having a chance to win. When guys spend every dime they have and still can't compete they typically quit and go spend their money elsewhere and that's what's happening. You would be hard pressed to show me an example of an employee being able to steal their employers entire business contractually so the employer had no recourse. You could possibly say if a guy did concrete for heartland homes and his worker went and undercut him, but those aren't binding deals and the original guy could just undercut the employee till the employee quit then raise prices back. I could see if Stan was plowing her doggy style and over played his stroke and powered back in the wrong hole so she was pissed but I haven't heard any such story . Just a person who thought they could pocket more of your entry fees by having less employees and paying you back less.

Just history repeating itself!!!    In the early 1950s the Penn-Ohio NASCAR circuit was the strongest weekly circuit in all of NASCAR.  In 1952 17 of the top 20 drivers in the National point standings were from around our area where drivers such as Dick Linder, Mike Klapak and Mike Little could race 7 times a week if they wanted. And they finished 1-2-3- in points in 1952!!   John Marcum, who was based in Toledo, was NASCAR's man on the scene, running it all for Bill France. Then between the 1952 and 1953 seasons Marcum went out on his own and founded MARC (Midwest Association for Race Cars)  He took most of the better weekly tracks with him, Heidelberg, Butler, Canfield, Sportsmans Park and others.  NASCAR never recovered in our area. They signed up other tracks but were gone by about 1956, never to return except many years later with the paved Motordrome & Jennerstown tracks.   FASTRAK may be headed the same way as Vickie & Mike can run things better here than Stan Lester can from Georgia, North Carolina or wherever he is.  What he needs to be successful here is a real crackerjack promoter type guy who can make a big difference.  Without such, I doubt FASTRAK will ever come back strong around here!!   And BTW...Years later Bill France and John Marcum mended their fences and MARC (now ARCA) has had a race at Daytona since the 60s!!   Maybe someday Vickie and Mike will get back together with Lester. Who knows, stranger things have happened!!  Note:  in 1952 every driver in NASCAR's top ten in the Sportsman class was from around here!!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Walt

Saying that Vicki and Mike can manage the series better here than Stan can from Georgia is highly questionable.

How many times did Rush qualify this year? That was their big thing that got guys interested in that series. You would have to go to a touring race with 40 cars and worry about pulling a shitty pill and starting in the back of a heat race and having a bunch of junk in front of you. I also thought Bobby Lake put up a bunch of money for the "Shock the Clock" fast qualifier at each tour race. Where did that money go?

Interesting facts Walt.

Jon, I guess hindsight, and moving forward, Stan might want to think about non-compete clauses. Lesson learned I guess.

Yes that is definitely true ... And along those lines hire someone who has a higher moral character than Jerry Sandusky ... Either one would work . I think at this point within the next 10 years our type of racing will be specials only anyway

Here is yet another reason why crate racing isn't getting fixed anytime soon, heres a lineup of whos racing a "crate race" coming up:

"Former Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race winners that will be looking for their second trophy include super late model drivers Ivedent Lloyd Jr. of Ocala, FL, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA and Doug Horton of Wimamma, FL. Super late model drivers joining them include Darrell Lannigan of Union, KY, Josh “Kid Rocket” Richards of Shinnston, WV, and Dennis “Rambo” Franklin of Gaffney, SC."

Very true what ever happened to having to have so many races to be eligible to run these bigger paying races?

Nesmith has been around since the year after Fastrak started. They actually have way more members and more tracks that run crates by themselves than Fastrak. Do the research and you will see I'm right.  I have never run a Super or a Limited for that matter in my life and have no problem with whoever running a crate race as long as they are legal by the rules for that race. Cracks me up what people will complain about. Go ahead Jon, let me have it. I know it's coming...............

We finally agree !! I want to race against the best guys also that's why I went to the world 100 my third night this year in a car I only drove twice . Your much better off racing against guys who can drive than local guys who can't . Imagine how
Many cars the crates would have if they were untouched 602 only , non adjustable straight valved oil shocks and 1600 tires untouched . But as usual the guys with money let that cat out of the bag a long time ago.
