I don't know about Lasky, but you better check your sources about Don Martin, because I distinctly recall reading were he said Lernerville didn't turn a profit for the first seven or so years it was open. I'm pretty confident he did okay after that. Don was passionate about racing, but what made him successful was that he was more passionate about making money.
Skull you need to add that he was an actual Promoter and not just a track "operator". And also add that he didn't view his fans and drivers as just another pay day. IMO that is what made Don Martin successful with his Lernerville Speedway.

Right on all points.
Everything there was permanent, for a lack of a better term. Same night, same time (and on time, to the minute), and everone got paid before they left. He routinely handed out bonuses from his own pocket for different things. Don didn't just sit on his ass in the press box. He walked through the pits and grandstands and talked to people. He hired great people, treated them well and let them do their jobs. His passion for racing and the willingness to promote the sport are just two of the things that Don did that are completely lacking at most of our area tracks.

What is the point money like? If a driver is only getting $25 in funds and pays $50 is it really worth going?

well it all depends on how many dollar cheeseburgers you get. If you pay $50 to go, and recieve $25 and 30 cheeseburgers your ahead of the game. Now if you ad a combo and large size it your making out big time!!!!!!What is the point money like? If a driver is only getting $25 in funds and pays $50 is it really worth going?

How many combo sizes meals can one guy eat one sitting to get their moneys worth is the question!

Double cheeseburgers are $1, so you would have to be able to eat at least 50 of them to break even...probably won't be able to do a doggie bag.

well the logical answer would be one. But they do not specify what time it starts or ends. so figure out how long you want to be there vs how many combo meals per hr and boom. I would say 1 every 2 hrs to be safe. How many combo sizes meals can one guy eat one sitting to get their moneys worth is the question!

I think we should move the banquet to Burger King, wouldn't have to eat as much...little higher priced menu over there.
