Dirt student. Just remember. It's all in good fun from my perspective. We all have and are entitled to our opinions. But, unless your a politician. That opinion don't mean shit. What's my definition of a politician. Any asshole that doesn't listen to what the majority is asking for. JMO

If shatz had to drive on the rutted up tracks that all the old time greats had to drive on he would be nowhere near a good as he is. The sprint guys were crying at the world finals about the track conditions and they wernt bad at all. Plain and simple if they wernt driving on a sheet of glass tracks every night kinser might still be on top.

Yeah, I swear he knew what the other drivers were going to do 2 laps ahead.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Lou Blaney was a 3 point driver. CLEAN, SMOOTH and FAST.

Absolute nonsense

How do you figure? Look at all the old videos. The kinsers Jac and Sammy goin at with 2 foot ruts coming out of the turns doing wheel stands down the front stretch and still going all out. Now this guys won't run on anything rougher then interstate 80. These cars now days are setup and the driver gets in and goes. Back then they actually had to handle the car.

I started going to races 30 years ago. Tracks were slick as whale snot most of the summer all the way back then, too. You old folks LOVE your revisionist history.

I'm not going to say if the skill of drivers today or yesteryear is or was better.  I do think there are more drivers in general who have the skill and quality equipment, to win today then yesteryear's.

My earliest memory of thinking about who's good and who is not is Lou Blaney in a Big Block modified.  Before that it was watch the race and have fun with the excitement you get out of it.  I remember Big Block races having many many more cautions years back then today.  It amazed me to watch Lou Blaney start in the back, pick up a car or two on the start, then another caution and the pick up of another spot on the restart, and another caution and he's get two more. before you knew it with so many cautions and his skill to grab a spot or two every caution, the crowd and myself too would be cheering him on for the lead.  I'd often wonder what would happen if the cautions did not happen.  But back then they did and he did.

I know I'm going to get ripped hard for this but I don't give a fuk, I honestly think the prolific winners in the 60,70,80,90's were winning their races out of the garage . Now everyone can just buy the good shit

I did not say what you implied.

The jist of what I wrote was Lou Blaney was the first driver I began to watch because of his superior driving skill.  It was his skill which first caused me to think about why he was so very good.  Your a very good wordsmith and I think probably write on here only for the sake of debate and to see who you can get a rise out of by underhanded signifying comments.

Today:  Soooooo the only reason Lou Blaney was good was because of cautions?? LMAO!! May be the stupidest thing I have ever read!

October 29th:  15k in a cadet is outrageous....

October 20th:  What's the chances of there being a fire crew on hand??

October 26th:  Why was Jared DQ'ed from the Crate race??

October 26th:  Wow. That's about typical from Blair.

October 26th:  I figured that as well since Max is their golden boy.

October 26th: I never said they were wrong about DQ'ing Miley but you need to be fair with your calls acrossed the board and they weren't with not docking Blair spots or DQ'ing him for rough driving.

That's true.  In the thread you never said anything.  Your reply was only to antagonize the previous poster.

October 19th:  Let all the crybabies start their crying!! Hahaha!!

October 19th:  For not caring what they do you are awfully bitter! Lol

Is that enough reference?  I'm retired and glad I have time to waste doing this.  What I posted was copied in order by easily looking at your profile and hitting "View content".

As it shows by my copying and pasting in order your resent posts, you only make post on here to pull chains and cause others grief for your own fun and games.  It's a shame myself and others are made to feel the need to defend ourselves because of your sly attacks.

Have a nice day.

BaconBits, 30 years ago yes tracks were better. We are talking the 70"s where you watching then. Most tracks were like wash boards, trust me i know i was there. I"ll even say up until the early 80"s the tracks where getting better but they still needed work to be smooth. Oh, for the record Kinser,Jac and Sammy started in the late 70"s.Not revision FACT.

Thirty years ago when I watched races I never thought about how track conditions effected the outcome or who won because of skill.  I only watched as a seldom fan the same as I'd watch baseball or football.

But I do have hands on experience fixing and using parts made, reconstructed and redesigned in that era by Lloyd Latch.  My experience with race parts he made or modified is what made me first use as an expression of admiration for the skills of racers say,  "Mr Latch is the smartest man in the world.".

Today much of who runs up front and who runs in the back is determined by who can best afford to buy from a catalog.

I will never understand the fetish you people have with rough tracks. A racing surface that requires less talent isn't a better racing surface.

And people act like Schatz is some guy who doesn't have any skill on tacky tracks. Um, he came up from the black gumbo of the upper Midwest.

Wow that is pretty creepy that you are that interested in me that you want to stalk me!! Sorry but I'm not interested, I'm happily married with kids.

I was just pointing out how you said Lou Blaney only passed cars when there was a caution and there were so many more cautions then what there is today.

Figuring you wrote, "Um, he came up from the black gumbo of the upper Midwest.", in humor I'll add to it below.

I don't consider being able to fly to gokart races from home to California growing up, coming from a black gumbo of anything.  ... :)
