All this trouble to make sure you are buying the specific fuel. Wouldnt it b just as easy to test for plain ole 92 octane sheets fuel. Oh I forgot it's only 2:20 a gal. Not 4:15. There is already an issue of the amount of racers. Forcing them to pay twice the going rate for things to race . is not helping

when anyone says that they are making rules to save the racer money it almost always translates to them padding their own wallets..spec tires, spec fuel, spec motors, etc.
and then you begin to see why its been so easy to walk away from the sport we love over the last 10 years.

Parocket,

I did a quick search for MOT's and found this:

https://hazmatonline...ents/MOTS05.pdf

In it was a reference gasoline had to be carried in a DOT container and per the weight restrictions it looks like only one drum of fuel may be carried.  I then went to look to learn what is the specified DOT container.  My quick scan through the reading did not indicate it could only be in a small container, such as a gas can.

Here's where I went:

https://www.law.corn...r/text/49/173.6

and:  https://www.law.corn...29/1910.106#d_2

I wonder if all you would need to carry is a copy of the MOT I first found.  If you are setup to follow the MOT, after that it would be up to who ever checks you to state where your not compliant in the violation ticket.  There may be some nit picky things they may commonly use to make a buck to pay their wage.  But I would suspect if you presented your MOD and said you do what's necessary to conform to it, they might think you reputable and let you go without much inspection.  Hopefully only pointing out where you they feel you might be deficient, without giving a citation.

edit:  I found what the MOD referenced of DOT:

https://www.gpo.gov/...l2-sec173-6.pdf

specifically:

(4) For gasoline, a packaging must be made of metal or plastic and conform to the requirements of this subchapter or to the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Department of Labor contained in 29

edit:  and on to lol

https://www.osha.gov/law-regs.html

Here's about defining what are gas cans:

https://www.osha.gov...IONS&p_id=22243

But a drum is not a gas can it's a storage container for gasoline and here is the definition of the container.

..........  got bored looking stuff up, But a drum is a container for gasoline and has it's own stipulations.  A gas can is it's own thing and has it's own stipulations.  The restriction on amount from what I read is by weight not container.  I see no reason you could not carry gasoline in either an approved gas can or an approved barrel, so long as you did not exceed the weight limit.

but I did not find where it is written that way before getting bored and tired of looking stuff up to maybe help racers.

I'll probably end up having someone get on my case about this useless info and how all I write on here is useless bull.  :)

dirtstudent2   You get an "A" for this post on hauling fuel. But like you said, some dumbass will shoot his mouth off. Your posts for the most part are interesting. But looking for educated responses on this site is wishful thinking. Go to   weekend auto racer  for honest setup info.
