Oh no, instead of 325 cars there will be 315. How will they ever survive.

I know I can win if I get a good pill drop & start from the front !!!  I hate crate racing

To greencar's point, does anyone know the farthest back anyone has won from in the stocks this year? Maybe Walt has a stat on that?

Open sportsman for the stampede. LOL. I wonder why ? If that is not ALL about what kind of back door deal that was made then there better be a large supply of blinders. So the crate guys, which I hope one of them does win, that were loyal and went out and bought new motors just got hit in the balls. What a snow job that is. Yea you have to run a crate all year, BUT, when the stampede comes along with the extra money we are just going to let anyone in that back gate. But remember opening day is right around the corner. You all come back now. HEE HAW.

Corey McPherson from 9th on 8/26 and from 8th on 9/3.  Joey Zambotti from 7th on 7/29.   However, maybe half the races were won from the front row.   When the top guys such as McPherson, Kelley, Zambotti, and Young draw the front row you are going to have that.  That's the fault of the draw system not the type of engines used!!  I'm old fashioned and still prefer some type of handicap system that puts the top drivers back at least a few rows!!   May not be what the drivers want to hear, but it puts on a better show for the fans and they are the ones who pay the bills!!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

And on 8/26, it's not like you can say McPherson got a good jump. On Lap 1 he dropped back to 10th before coming up through for the win

The thing that I don't like is that it's 3 or 4 drivers in the sportsmen who are doing all of the passing.  Other than them, and this is actually all of the division on the new surface, the most that happens is a driver can get alongside on the bottom, but doesn't have a snowball's chance of actually passing, and then will lose more positions for even attempting to pass.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

And the 300# penalty is why the open cars will be @PPMS on Saturday....

And B.T.W.... The extra 300# for the stroker  has been in place for at least the last 2 years ....

Never could understand why a 383 or 377 had to weigh more than a 406....

There is no real way to place handicaps at a special race unless it includes regular points. A few years back JTown had a handicap system where if you were not in the top 10 in points you could not start any higher than 11th. Also you had to finish in the top of the heat race to qualify for your position. But first place in points started 10th, second place in points started 9th and so forth. It made sure you didn't dog the heat race and it made for some really good racing. It also gave some slower cars a chance. So it didn't allow someone the first night at the track any way possible to start on the pole. It only takes care of your loyal teams and if the new comers win, then they earned it. It really was a good system.

Years ago we had a rule at Mercer that a first time driver or one who had missed three nights had to start behind all the heat race qualified cars.   That helped keep an outsider from coming in and taking the top money away from the track regulars and also any who would play the point game of skipping around from one track to another, something that rarely happens nowadays.

GOOD RACING!!!

Walt
