I've come to the conclusion that #TheTruth will bitch and complain about anything and everything. PPMS will be closed at the end of the year and you will have to find something else to focus your misery on.

Everyone except for you agrees with my thoughts on Mollick, RUSH and that whole situation. Go talk to some drivers and see if their happy with the result. Because their not. I also only stated that I was disappointed so your bitching statement is invalid.

"Maybe they're afraid of being shown up by somebody who can make the place hugely successful?"
Who is this buyer and why have they not laid the money down????
Plain stupid TALK.

I

Then explain why they would use crooked lawyers to screw guys out of buying it who wanted to make it a first-class facility, only to let it rot away like they're doing now. They would have had a really nice place to enjoy the races right now instead of a dilapidated facility in constant need of repairs. When they leased it they always used the lease as a cop-out to not invest in it. They still haven't invested in it all these years later. Why buy something and not care about its current condition, other than fear of somebody doing it better than they did?

Crooked lawyers?

Law is based on past precedence and "the law". I believe they had first right of refusal, and played that card....and laid down the $.

It has been for sale, where is/are/has been these buyers?

Buying a race track, to be a race track, is not a wise place to park your money with car counts low everywhere. Especially with the prior use of the land there.

Do you own a home? ALL structures/infrastructure require maintenance and are in constant need of repair, you prioritize them based on how they will affect the value and function.

I don't disagree there is plenty of work to be done, but it functions every week, bring 20 friends to the track, that bring 20 more each and it may change direction....and possibly field a car.

None of the owners are young, they are all ready to put their slippers on, and their retirement is invested in LAND, that just happens to be racetrack/s?, by choice. Be glad it's still really noisy every Saturday!

Your bashing of them buying it does nothing for the sport(or their/others attitude)!

"fear of somebody doing it better than they did?"

I HIGHLY doubt this is what drives them!

I agree, but you don't want to look back after the death and have to wonder if you were a part of the death. Recruit fans, that's what the sport needs.

The younger generation's just aren't into racing or the performance of cars (more so looks), they just don't like getting dirty or working that hard.

Almost all young drivers/teams come from racing families, that can fit... and keep it in their budget.

The guy that wanted to buy the track years back when it sold,(Carns?) , is he still interested?

I was at the race last night thinking, man would it be nice if Tony took a good look @ and liking to the place..... and struck a check for it! It would take someone with that kind of money to move it forward, your not going to make much profit at it.

Donald "Red" Carns had always loved that track, and wanted to leave it nice as his legacy...with the help of his wife Rose,Dale the Electrician and a few others he formed a relationship with Emma's family that was handling the sale, settled on a price, signed the papers and thought it was a done deal..I still have the files in my computer containing 3 logo's for the New "Pennsylvania Motor Speedway"..he was planning on changing the name back to what it was originally.
the deal was done when the current year lease expired..

on December 29th,2 days before the sale took effect the current lease holders Miley Motorsports.. who until then had not made a move, filed a stop order saying that as the lease holder they had first right of refusal..at that point they countered the offer and took possession of the track after dragging out the sale 4 months later.if you remember the season didn't start that year till May.

sadly Red Carns passed away this past winter...

Gearhead, myself and a few others know what the place could have become..within a couple months of what he thought was already his track,Mr Carns sold 2 farms to a gas driller for over 10 million dollars...money was no object to rebuild the track into what could have been the "Eldora of the East".

instead the current owners pulled off the sale without even enough money to buy new light bulbs for the scoreboard..and you know the rest.

Buttbeak still won't get it. It takes good people to bring a community together to support a racetrack, which is why tracks like FALS are so successful. Red and Dale and the hoards of volunteers they would have had could have created some of that support within the community. Everybody would have felt welcomed. With the Miley's bad attitudes and their "if you don't like it go home" attitude it is simply impossible to do that. And at the end of the day the Miley legacy will be that instead of the Eldora of the east sitting in North Fayette Township it will be more soccer fields or a housing development. But I guess for some people the amount of money you can make in your lifetime is more important than the legacy you leave behind and the impact you have on the sport that you supposedly love. The way the infrastructure is deteriorating now it may only have a couple more years left before everything rots away to nothing.

If you remember, Miley purchased Motordrome not too long before Emma died and the track was going to be sold. I still believe if Miley knew that, he would have never bought Motordrome which they still own and cannot sell and they have had it up for sale last few years. I would like to think they could have used the money wasted on Motordrome to do things at Pittsburgh. Sadly we will never know. Emma was the owner, even if Miley leased the track, you would think she could have found a way to get it to Carns and kept Miley out.

Emma's niece would have had to lease it to Red and Dale for 1 year I believe in order to keep the Miley's out. After that year the first right of refusal would have been null and void, then she could have sold it to Red and Dale the next year. Or she had to let the track sit for a year, I forget. Regardless, I assume she wanted the money ASAP and didn't care about racing or Nick and Emma's legacy either.

If I remember correctly, the lease said that the Miley's would have to maintain the facilities, in the same condition, as when the lease started, they hadn't, so it would have cost them a fortune, in repairs/compensation. So, they decided to buy it, thereby using the money they would have spent, to bid against Red. In retrospect, the track's fate was sealed, then and there.

#TheTruth what is it you don't agree with?

The 60m team failed tech at Lernerville and was DQ at PPMS. RUSH put out a statement stating he would lose monies and points. On the RUSH site, he did not earn points for that night, but he was given PPMS points for the night. I dont agree with cheating period and think more than a slap on the wrist was in order, as do most people other than you and Howie. If a team deemed illegal twice was at your track all year and still taking money and points away from legal cars wouldnt you want something done about it?

The track has been for sale for years now, actually it is not listed anymore and has not been for a while.

The Mileys bought the track and kept it running. If the previous buyers wanted to buy it they could of.

There are guys that complain all the time and there are guys like Vince and Branden that do things to better the sport.

Just because you love racing and this track doesn't mean the world does, I do and am glad that it is still open,(wish they had super lates weekly) and have a feeling it is going to be till the car and fan count gets too low. the sale of that land is going to be a hard sale and we all know the many factors.

So defame it or draw cars and new fans there.

Why don't you "volunteer" to help the track? All the Mileys are good people and racers at the core of their hearts, you need to loose the attitude and move on. Once you do you will be an asset and not the burden of the sport.

They don't accept volunteers due to insurance regulations as matt has stated for the past numerous years.

Points I have no idea about, what do you get if you win the track points...a sticker?

I agree we disagree. And I bet you live with your parents still too, correct?

Answer this: Why didn't the "group" buy the track when it was listed for sale, or now for that matter?

It's not a matter of if you build it they will come as many think.

I agree the fans and car counts is what a track depends on each week, we all know that! BUT, it is up to the owners to make it a place people who want to go. I have been going to PPMS about 35 years, I have had friends and family who raced at PPMS I have brought numerous people to the track over the years. Some of these people became fans but in resent years quote the place is not the same it looks shabby I wish they would clean and fix it up. These are statements coming from the very fans who come through the gate. Owners have to hear what the fans are saying and the racers are saying. I want see PPMS race on Saturdays for a long time I would hate to see it close.
