Thanks to Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway for scheduling their first ever stand-alone RUSH Pro Stock event on their Saturday, May 5 opener! Lernerville will not be running the Stocks the night before. PPMS will use Lernerville's weekly payoff. If the support is there, the possibility exists for another show or two.

So the ppms drivers can't compete if they don't utilize Lernerville rules?

Good question, can"t wait to see how this is going to play out. I"m thinking that RUSH is trying to use this as a future point to make the Pro Stocks at PPMS race under RUSH rules. They already have RUSH Late Models at PPMS. Just my take on it, I could be wrong. Guess we will have to wait.

Pittsburgh's regular open Stock class is also competing that night in a separate event.  Drivers can only compete in one class unless they have 2 cars.

2 cars. That is flipping hilarious. RUSH domination of ALL local racing. The stands will be packed with enthusiasts. They'll be driving from all the neighboring communities to see the racing. The weekly racing will die without a strong headliner division. I don't know nor do I care, but there sales pitch must be something. There a great class for LM guys where costs have gone crazy. They want total domination. What a shame. GREED.

yes, bring back the late models so we can watch 5 of them. Too bad you didn't run the track, I'm sure they would be making millions with you in charge.

So tracks are closing left and right yet PPMS, Lernerville and Rush work together to allow the Lernerville stock guys a chance to race on a week when they are off. And people still somehow find a reason to bitch? I wonder why local racing is in the state it is 🤷‍♂️

Remember, this board is full of promoters who got the answers to everything and people who hate all things crate racing.

Best part is some people would rather watch 5 SLM with 2 having a chance to win versus 23 Crates at PPMS.

why should those guys have been alienated in the first place would be the question..?
and then if they do come down it has to be a separate race instead of bigger fields...if you can't see the problem then I don't know what to tell you.

I agree Danny. But that has nothing to do with Matt giving them somewhere to race that weekend and another feature for the fans. PPMS is open Stock and has nothing to do with the Crate drama. Thats my point.

its cool..just bums me out that we no longer have the choice of going to Lernerville on a friday night,or to see those guys show up here. I ran a regular show there for the first time in 1992,granted I didn't run up there much, but at least the option was there..

at that point their cars were more like cars from other tracks and PMS cars were like Hobby Stocks. then for a few years we were all on the same page until Rush moved in.. with the dwindling participation these days it just doesn't make sense to me.

and that's why we have the penn Ohio series. Maybe it's the changing times, a lot of people, including me, thought the crates in the sportsman was going to be the last straw. Guys were not going to do it. Well many did. The racing sucked in my opinion, but they showed up weekly. Some of those that followed that move are now moving alright, into crate LM. I will ask this, and I am not wanting to start anything, if the Laboon race was a crate race would they come ? No. It has grown every year because of the open format. We all talk about ppms, it's gone, why they keep it active on a weekly schedule amazes me. The place is big, the place is fast. As a weekly racer with all that armco you screw up there your in for some late nights. Mercer is dead, it will be interesting to see what many of those teams are going to do.

The only problem I see with an exclusive crate stock race at PPMS on their opening night seems per reading on this thread to have been created by RUSH.  I'll add I read through their crate stock rules and I found no basis in their rules which would not allow the same car in both races.

The problem I see is it screws to the ground some chances for the rest of the year of Matt getting stock crates to run weekly for points in his open stock class, if they enter the one time RUSH race.  It nets out to if you don't run in Matt's first points race you know your likely screwed out a chance for a points title at PPMS.

If open stock crate cars are lost for the season because of loosing first night points and it's not a problem for Matt, then that's the way it is.

edit:  Rush already has crate late racing at PPMS and reading their rules it appears Matt has funded them as needed for Late Model crate racing to be able to accept another class without much if any cost.

If the open stock racing normally gets or is expected to get good car counts and this will prevent cars from running in their first points race  is something which I see can hurt Matts stock open class.   If it does hurt car count enough which I don't know if it will or won't, then it opens the door for crate stocks to replace the open stock class at PPMS.  I doubt RUSH would do anything to intentionally hurt an established class at any track or weaken any class of cars with the intent to replace.

So far they've seemed to go after already rotting fruit.  I don't see them because of their ethics and their obvious love of racing to go after ripe and vibrant fruit.  I don't see them stinging as a pesky insect would, expecting to feed when the fruit rots and falls to the ground.  I have too much respect for them, no matter how I oppose inroads their business makes into our ability to be able to race; to think it.

Most guys don't care about points anymore.
