Change My Mind: Max Blair Edition

I consistently see fans obsessing over Max Blair online weekly and I just don't get it. Keep in mind, I do not follow their racing page yet still see posts about him week after week. I do not follow the results but to my knowledge the WOO win is his only notable accomplishment. On the schedule I don't see much traveling, just the same few tracks over and over. I've seen him race , and often it results in other cars being pushed out of the way. So what is there to obsess about? I honestly would like to know what all the buzz is about, I don't see it. His life is racing, and his equipment is top of the line, maybe I'm wrong, change my mind.

Oh now ya done it.
To me he's a big fish in a little pond. Not saying that is a bad thing, but just calling it like I see it.

For the record Im not a fan at all, actually dislike him as a driver(dont know him so I cant speak personally) but you guys getting all worked up about him seems silly to me. If hes overrated and you dont like him, why do you care where he races?

Here is my look at what he does, he takes two cars to the tracks he is going to win.
Crates typically race for around $800, say he wins both nights he races, that's $1600 in the pocket.
The he runs the super at the same two tracks and wins both again that's another $2000 or so
So he goes home with around $3600 each weekend, therefor he is making a bit of cash.
In my opinion its smart.

And Plenty of guys dont like Pittsburgh. If you prefer bullrings Pittsburgh isnt the place for you. Eriez Stateline McKean are. Tyler is.
And youre insane if you think his car is 4x more expensive than anyone elses. Those guys all have the same shit.

He was at Sharon last week. Not a home track for him last I checked.
For the record Im not a fan at all, actually dislike him as a driver(dont know him so I cant speak personally) but you guys getting all worked up about him seems silly to me. If hes overrated and you dont like him, why do you care where he races?
Seems like you really really like him to me. I'm looking for intelligent conversation as to why he receives so much recognition and such a large fan base with little to no accomplishments? Why don't other locals have the recognition and fan base he has with more accomplishments?

I personally don't understand the hate on Blair. He does what is best for his situation, which to me makes sense. A lot of sense. Late Model racing has become very expensive, the car counts obviously reflect that. I would think trying to to bring in the most possible money each race night is the smartest way to combat the cost.
The tracks he frequents have very quality competition, its not like hes the only guy with a good car. In fact, a vast majority of the LM left out there have pretty good stuff, some guys just aren't as good, like in any sport.
I live convenient to Lernerville and Marion Center, and have been going to those tracks, especially MC for many, many, many years. But also travel to a lot of other tracks, several times a year. I have seen Max race a lot, and I just don't see him running people over either. Actually, I cant recall him roughing anyone up in a long time. And it seems to me his competitors have a lot of respect for him, as a driver and person.
I for one am incredibly impressed that anyone wins as many races as he does, in this era of racing. Max has won on a bunch of tracks too, I would say as many as anyone around here, including Miley.
Rob Blair won all over the US too, its like people have short memories on racing stuff, Stateline and Eriez are far from the only tracks they have won at.

I wouldn't classify him as a winner. It's cherry picking. His fans have him with the likes of Scott Bloomquist. Others may not win as much but a top 5 with a series is surely more prestigious than winning a weekly crate race. He wins by default because the competition isn't there. So your saying he has a following and recognition because he can win races at tracks with little to no competition?
So you're saying that Eriez, Stateline, McKean Co., etc. has no competition? You think that Pittsburgh, Lernerville has a higher level of competition? I don't think so......I think that all of the tracks are about the same.
