Open motors 3000# D55 or 1600s
Crate motors 2900# open Hoosier, 8” spoiler, front nose spillboard like spec LM in early 2000s
Both then follow Penn Ohio base rules outside that. Special shows will follow straight Penn Ohio rules (ELM, Willie White Race, Pittsburgher weekend).

Crate racers Ds2. Someone is thinking the guys from lernerville may show up on a Saturday night. Latrobe is going with the Penn/Ohio rules and I think you may see a further decline in the car counts at a weekly Friday night race near you.
The tire rule hurts there SLM count, then they go crate in there sportsman. I think crates in the late models will be there soon enough and the decline will be on going. You've got dog hollow racing Saturday and it was the perfect time to drop that tire rule. Go figure. I think they are going in the wrong direction personally. I'm heading for central pa the end of march. I'll continue to make my trips back to lernerville. Why, I always felt it was one of the best anywhere. Not so much ahymore.
The modifieds will be the next class to crumble with mercer coming back on board. How many are going to run 2 nights ?

Talking to the Mileys the logic was two fold: encourage more racers to consider buying a Crate motor/keeping costs down and growing the weekly field. Outside of the Penn Ohio shows the average car counts were between 9 and 11 cars. The hope is more guys consider buying a used Crate motor for $3500-$5000 versus $15k open motors. I’m not getting into the Crate debate here, I’m just explaining the logic.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

the 9-11 cars were penn/ohio cars supporting that track on the off weeks from the series.....i don't see that happening now. i figured miss rush was going to take over that track next...but i also don't think the guys that race there weekly are going to follow in lernervilles foot steps....jmo.

I guess that gets into the debate. The guys who buy a used Crate would be rookies or guys moving up from hobby stocks who don’t have a lot of money and just want to race weekly. Can you build a 383 or 400 for under $5000? Maybe. But that’s the issue. Guys aren’t spending $5000 on open motors. They have $20k tied up in a 421 or 430 to race for $300 weekly.

so is it your brothers fault..our teams fault..or whoever else that didn't complain,just tried to keep up by whatever means possible?..that now we..the people who have supported that shithole should have to face a penalty or even sell off our hard earned equipment for less than half what we have in it to give "the other guys" who dream of moving up,or the guys who race Lernerville a chance?I guess that gets into the debate. the issue is the management who let it go on,let it get out of hand and now are paying the penalty by less teams,cars and fans..they sure got fat and happy off their decisions,its us that are skipping meals to try to compete.

Danimal no one said its anyones fault or you had to sell everything lol. You just have to weigh the same as you did two years ago and run the same compounds as well. The whole division is out of control. Its going the way of open Emods from 2009-2011. It will eventually be the same 30-35 cars racing 10-15 Penn Ohio events within the next 3 years for open stocks.

Its buy a crate or go nascar motor because the most universal equalizer is out the window for anything in between

Latrobe Speedway is a very enticing option for Saturday night this year. Does anybody know what they're paying to win? Hopefully it's more than $300.

My racing motor knowledge is limited and the only reason that seems fair that they stripped the 100 lb weight break for a motor up to 360 CI and called a 604 without the 1000 dollar bolts an open motor is that you can make a 350 have as much power as a 421 ?
I still think its not fair and puts a whole group of people who run Frankenstein motors at a disadvantage

the pittsburgher will not be running penn/ohio cars this year.they will be the ppms/rush pro stocks as per sch.
