Tonight was a complete joke. Once again the track was dusty to where you couldn't see a thing in hot laps. Then they waste an hour 7-8 watering the track. So basically they started an hour late because the track was a cluster. Then after 1 heat it was back to blowing dust like a windstorm in a desert. They need to figure it out and fast. Heard a lot of disgusted people leaving tonight saying they won't be back. The Herb Scott and Jook shows were the same way. Whatever they are doing to prep the track when it is hot and sunny clearly isn't working.

Place is getting worse every week. Every time I've been there this year they never start on time and just like you said it is dusty than hell.

How can other tracks like the one in Butler have awesome track surfaces and they have not had any rain in over a week up there also.

You same keyboard cowboys bitching about everything will be the same ones bitching when these tracks close.  Three months ago we were so desperate for racing we were watching iRacing on cable TV.  We're already back to bitching and moaning behind screen names on a message board about track conditions. Fvcking trolls!

Well they open the place every week and they come every week to compete. There not going to invest money in the place. You have promotors out there today that are trying to take there facilities to that next level. It's unfortunate that the tracks the Miley's own are never going to be what they were. PPMS and Motordrome both could be right up there with the best. There like the section 8 landlord. If it's standing we will rent it until it falls into such disrepair that nobody wants to come and look at it. But we will ask unrealistic numbers for the sale of anything we own. So, if we can't have it, neither can anybody else. Motordrome is gone forever and the only thing keeping PPMS alive is they keep showing up on a Saturday night. PPMS location, great. Track, one of the best. Facilities, why would the drivers care ? Upgrades, hilarious. Track prep, may be the thing that finally kills them.

In this case there seems like there is a difference between an owner (Mileys) and a track maintenance crew.  When I hear Matt on here he seems to be saying that the Miley family is worn out dotting all the i's and crossing all the T's required to make the track successful, especially when it comes to maintaining the track.........I get it, its a lot of work week in and week out, lots of areas to cover.  But at some point you have to step away from the maintenance part of the equation (because your not qualified to do it) and you hire a qualified crew to take that effort on and continue to fine tune that crew until the results are what you want them to be.  The cost to hire a few people to maintain that track should be reasonable and expected if you are a track owner.  If not then your fooling yourself and the results will never meet peoples expectations........  I realize they may already have a crew but 1 person or 2 is not the size of a the crew required for a place as big as PPMS..........there is money required for maintenance but does not include the amount of money for required for improvements.......those are 2 different costs.......combining them when discussing spending money and you will likely CHEAPEN up the outcome of everything....

realgearhead5y, good post you/r spot on that call. I know Matt loves the sport and i believe he is trying  but also losing the fight. I total agree Matt should back off some an get good help. But, you know as i it well same old same old week in week out. We always supported PPMS our racing and having  family and friends come to watch. As far as track prep they need to find balance, not one week dusty then the next week a good racing surface.

When their water truck was broke last year. I know someone who competes there regularly offered to fix the water truck and pay for all the parts. He was told no thanks Ive literally never seen Matt out of his truck. I go to other tracks and see the promoter with his ass kicked up around his ears and filthy dirty. The writing is on the wall when you pull in the place and the entrance is over grown to the point where trees drag down your vehicle. The weeds in the infield needed cut 2 months ago. They literally dont put an ounce of effort into the place not even the easy shit like running the weed whacker. And like I said before turn down offers to fix their equipment.

I didn't think Red was that much better. I could be wrong. I remember the top four late model in the points race around 1995 left PPMS for Challenger mid-season. That's both Wearings,Geisler, and Flinner.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Red wasn't much better, when he bought Motordrome in '02 that was the end of the improvements. Before then the previous ownership group had been making improvements year after year. He was a nice guy and he loved racing but he did not do very much to secure the future of that track.

Motordrome died when they black topped it. I remember Bob Wearing there one night after he climbed out of the car somebody asked him what he thought of the place and all the money that was spent on improvements. His comment was there was nothing wrong with it before. Sitting on that hillside going into turn 3 was the best. Insurance companies today would have had a fit.

Here's aa question for jo73 or anyone who was at Motordrome when Ben Miley and a few cars got together front straight. It was a hard hit but what i can't remember who took a ride in the Med Chopper.

I was there old man d, and I don't believe that Ben was injured since his car was hit on the right side and not the driver's side. Harley Chuba in the #66 Chevelle was the one who plowed full speed into Ben, and it may have been him who was hurt. You're going back 48 years, so my recollection is a little bit fuzzy.

I think if Red were still alive, PPMS would be in much better shape.  Red was the businessman of the family, none of the others have his business ethic nor his public relations skills.  Every time I left Motordrome after Red took over, he was at the gate to shake my hand when I left. Just my opinion, since we'll never really know.

It's one of the worst racing wrecks I have ever seen, and it happened right in front of where I was sitting in the bleachers.
