#441821 Marion Center Speedway - 2019?!?!?!?

Posted by snooky on 26 February 2019 - 05:02 PM

I think the days of all these tracks running are over. Just aren’t the cars or fan interest to support them all.

There's something you don't hear tracks doing.

#412785 Jonny legend @ the pittsburgher

I think the legend is the topic because of many of the comments he has made and how critical he's been of others on here over the years. Throw that in with his vulgarity and down right rudeness toward anyone that he doesn't agree with and you should not be surprised.

'Stock Car racing generally is in trouble. As I've stated previously, stock car racing is far, far from its roots. In its hay day fans could identify with the chevelles, fairlanes, satellites etc on the track because the same thing was sitting in their driveway. Cars on the track today in no way shape or form resemble what folks drive. Young people have no interest in rear drive, V-8 cars. The FWD class doesn't cut it and people are spending thousands to win $100. Cost to run a couple nights a week for pit fees, fuel and an occasional tire don't come close to breaking even. Purses are about the same as they were in the 70's. It's not that tracks are making a bundle. Historic racing facilities are closing all to regularly. Look at the old photos. Stands were packed. Car builders took what Detroit produced and improved on it. They were fabricators and innovators. There was interest from the populace.
It's easy to point out the problems. The solutions on the other hand are not.

So, what so you think tech should check for this week? some good places to start, cam lift, triple disc clutches, suspension mounting location, TRACTION CONTROL

#394442 Williams Grove Lawsuit

Posted by snooky on 21 July 2014 - 08:05 PM

First I feel for the guy BUT it is a dangerous sport. Premise of the suit was that there was no catch fence. Catch fences are intended to keep cars and debris from getting into the stands or pit area. What if a catch fence would have been there and it flung the car back into traffic and caused a more serious crash. Would he then suit because there WAS a catch fence?
Still, the incident and others like it show that there is a need for some catastrophic insurance plan in the event of serious injury (loss of limb, paralysis, etc) for drivers and crew members. Maybe there should be an organization made up of tracks, drivers and crew members that could provide such a thing. IF and its a big IF it could be done for a reasonable stipend it could be something worth considering. Food for thought.

I agree and have seen similar stuff. Adjustable suspension mounts aren't hard to tech. Listen to a few of them idle and watch them pull out. You don't have to be a mechanical genius.

Well legend have you ever seen the place? It is pretty well known that the layout of the track is conducive to follow the leader racing and results in contact trying to pass. You make me laugh. Your opinion is only one that matters (to you). The rest of the world is wrong and you are right. You're obnoxious and profane and a legend in your own mind.
