This Friday July 22, is the 1st annual Kings of Wings + Late Models! Thunder Mountain Speedway has gone all out with these three classes packed into one night of racing. The 410 sprint cars will showcase the evening’s events with a $2,500 to win 25 lap feature. The standing track record of 14.080 will sure to be broken! A large car count is expected with multiple venues dropping the 410’s from their programs this Friday. Also on the ticket is the 305 Warrior Sprint cars. This class currently holds the Thunder Mountain track record. A larger than normal 305 purse will also see the winner collecting $800! This class has been the tracks largest growing class in 2016. Alongside these two headline classes Thunder Mountain has elected to add the Late Models to the card as well. Thunder Mountain’s most popular class will now run this Friday as well. A regular Late Model payout will be given up for this class. The winner will take home $1,000.

Next up for Thunder Mountain Speedway is the ULMS Late model series July 1st 2016. $3,000 goes to the winner of this thirty lap event. Twenty four cars will start the feature with guaranteed starting money of $200.00 Also on the ticket will be the Semi Late models and Sprint Warriors with their regular payoff and no points.

Last year’s ULMS race saw thirty two cars in late August of 2015. The H1 of Jared Miley won a hard fought battle against the 99 of Boom Briggs and Gregg Satterlee in the 22. This year looks to be another thrilling event with many drivers both local and distant committed.  The sprint Warriors who have grown rapidly at Thunder Mountain will also run a 20 lap feature event. Six Warrior Sprint races have been run in 2016 with five different winners. The Semi late division will round out the classes. Multiple winner as well in the Semi Late division will be sure to impress.   Gates open at 5:00PM Hot laps at 7:00pm with racing starting at 7:30PM General admission is $15 Pits $35. Friday Night was a great night for racing at Thunder Mountain Speedway. As car counts in each class keep growing, so does the excitement on the speedway. Sprint warriors ran a great feature with Tyler Denochick picking up his first win of the season. Only one caution for a slowed car. The Late models had a great feature as well with Charlie Powel charging from dead last to the lead in 18 laps. He later took home the win. Semi late Models continue to show growing support each week. #47 Adam Nixon finally got the monkey off his back as he claimed his first win at Thunder Mountain. The Street Stock saw a great few heat races and feature. 28 Fuzzy Fields and the 1B Of Tim Bish took put on a show for the fans. The Staff at Thunder Mountain would like to thank everybody for the overwhelming support this season. Without you the drivers, crew members and fans none of this would be possible. Your support means the world to us as we are extremely happy to have it! This coming Friday June the 17th will be Modified Madness. Feature the 358 Modifieds, Rush Modifieds, Warrior Sprints, Street Stocks, and Semi Late Models. Large car counts are expected in both modified classes. Gates open at 5:00 with racing starting at 7:30.

The 1st annual Kings of Wings will kick off July 22, 2016 at Thunder Mountain Speedway. This show will be a complete winged open wheel event. The famed 410 Sprint cars will make their first appearance at the speedway alongside the 305 sprint warriors and 270 cc Mini Sprints. All classes will run heat races and features. B-mains will be added if needed. A dash to determine starting positions for the 410’s and 305s will also be run. For more information please visit www.blmotorsports.net

In recent weeks Thunder Mountain Speedway has noticed a growing field of Sprint Warriors. A number of new drivers have shown interest in the speedway. The Sprint Warrior features have been thrillers to say the least! To show our appreciation we will be adding $50.00 to every finishing position for the week of June 6th.  We appreciate each class we have at Thunder Mountain. As we notice new comers and over the top racing we hope to do more of this in each class throughout the season. We want to thank everybody for the overwhelming support for 2016. Thank you for your concern. Before this topic gets out of hand i wish to clear this up.

We hire a Fire Company to cover our safety. Within the structure of the fire company there are also four (4)  EMT's stationed at the track on any given night. This is in addition to the ambulance service on call only a short distance from the track. Safety is always a primary concern for us at the speedway.

We notice we had some issues last Friday with delayed time in recovery and will address any concerns. Thank you for your support!

Two reasons.

1. Many of you noticed the coal showing its ugly face. As well as the clay dissipating from our surface. It has become increasingly difficult to prep that surface due to the obstacles that were presented. We want to be able to start the second phase of renovation. Starting with Re-claying the surface. We would like this to be done early before winter sets in.

2. I will NEVER compete against already established venues. It's not god for the drivers, fans, or the facilities involved.

I appreciate all the support from the people who are willing to give it! I would like shed light to a few topics.

If there is any drivers who have not been paid (with the exception of the 8/7/15 race that is being accounted now) they should call the office between the hours of 8am and 5pm. If nobody answers and simply leave a msg. We will return your call ASAP.  814-590-4173 to my knowledge all books are good unless we do not have the proper paper work for you. If we don’t have an address we can’t send you money.

I completely agree. The track was really dusty two weeks ago and the rough turns in 3 and 4 were tough on equipment this past week. Some fans/drivers forget before I took this on I was a driver as well. I know what drivers and fans want. Sometimes achieving that satisfaction can prove very difficult. Remember all the rocks that were tearing up tires? We spent the entire week tilling the track and removing rocks. Worked on the track right up until Friday morning. Because of the work that was done removing rocks we were not able to water the track as much as we would have liked. So the dust flew, however the rocks did not. This past week I noticed our base showing its face in turns three and four. Again we spent all week putting clay down. Once the clay was down and meshed in we started to grade, unfortunately our grader broke down. We spent the remaining time smoothing out fresh clay with rock rakes and any available equipment we could find. So again instead of rocks and shale sticking out we had clay. We made sure to water the track as much as time would allow us. Other than the bumps in the new clay the rest of the surface proved to be very good.

After repetitive wins our rules say a car should start in different position. I have not lived up to that expectation this year. My mistake and I will take full blame for it. Sometimes we miss things that seem very simple. Just not so simple when a million little things add up.

Some seem worried that all the negative comments will tear this place apart. I for one can promise they won’t. We will continue to work real hard at providing the best POSSIBLE race program we can. I will continue to add to our purse as we are able and will not stop working in the direction we feel is best for everybody. This game is not easy, this has proved to be one of the most difficult undertaking yet. Every week a new curveball. This biggest difference is if you can learn from the situation and build upon it. Something as simple as forgetting to flip a breaker for the pit lights can send rumors flying. Truth is most are just simple mistakes made by me. I have a five year run at this and at the end of those five if I don’t have a heart attack we should have things running smoothly.
