FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fries Races to First UFo Semi-Late Win at Clinton County!

(Mill Hall, PA)  Andy Fries of Mercersburg, PA turned in perfect performance on Friday night to win the UFo “I-80 Comet” at Clinton County Motor Speedway.   Fries won both his heat race and then fought off the challenges to take the $1,000 to win UFo Semi-Late feature.  The results of the event has set up a very tight point race for this first-year tour.

J.R. Toner, Tom Krape, Fries and Mike Smith won the four qualifying heats for the 30 cars that signed in.   The most recent UFo Semi-Late winner Robbie Black and Eric Irvin, who was the point leader going into the event, split the consolation wins.

The redraw put Fries and Joe Lusk on the front row.  Fries immediately jumped out to the lead, but soon found fifth starting Ralph Morgan, Jr. racing him for the lead.   Morgan’s first attempt to win the race fell short on lap 8 when a broken spring sent him to the pits.

The restart found Fries leading Lusk, Kyle Lee, Smith and Black, who had already advanced from his 16th starting position.   A second restart was required after the cars of Nick Loffredo, Todd Snook and L.C. Powers came together in the first turn.   The caution allowed Morgan enough time to fix his suspension issue without losing a lap.

On the next lap after the second restart, a seven car incident occurred when the top runners made contact, sending Lee, Smith, Devin Hart, Dillan Stake and T.J Watson to the pits, with Black and Snook going to the pits and to the rear.    On the restart, Fries lead Lusk and 17th starting Eric Irvin.    Irvin’s strong run was foiled with a flat tire sending him to the rear also.

The race then went for a long period of green flag racing, with Fries leading the way.   One by one, Morgan advanced from his rear restart position and found himself back in contention for the win in the final eight laps.   The final caution of the 33-lap race appeared on lap 30, giving Morgan his final chance at the win.

Fries proved to be the strongest crossing the finish line first, followed by Morgan, Luke Hoffner, John Myers and 18th starting Andrew Yoder.   Krape, 23rd starting Brad Myers, 19th staring Tom Vilello, Lusk and Irvin completed the top ten.

With three different winners in three races, the point lead for the UFo Semi-Late championship also now sees its third leader after three events.  Rance Garlock, Black and Fries have taken the three wins, while Garlock, Irvin and Ralph Morgan Jr. have been the point leaders.  Morgan now leads by just three points over Irivn.   Todd Snook followed in third, just one point behind Irvin.

The UFo Championship continues its trek through 2016 with the “Shawn McGarvey Championship” SuperNova event on Sunday, May 29 at Dog Hollow Speedway.  The UFo Super Late Models will race 48 laps for $4,000 to win and $300 to start.  24 to 30 Super Late Model cars will start the feature according to the overall car count.  The UFo Semi-Lates will race for 33 laps for $1,000 to win and $140 to start.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UFo Continues July Trek at Tyler County, Port Royal, Dog Hollow & Hesston

(Mars, PA) After this weekend’s massive $125,000 “Mega in the Mountains” weekend at Tyler County Speedway in West Virginia, the “New” UFo Championship will teleport back into Pennsylvania for a trio of events over two weekends at Port Royal Speedway, Dog Hollow Speedway and Hesston Speedway.

The “Mega in the Mountains” weekend on July 9-10-11 features the UFo Super Late Models racing for $12,000 possible to win and the Renegades of Dirt E-mods racing for $16,000 possible to win.  The UFo Super Late Models will race in a $5,000 to win, 44 lap feature on both Friday and Saturday nights.  If the same driver wins both races, that driver will collect a $2,000 bonus from ASi Racewear. Complete event information may be found at http://www.racethemega.com or http://ufochampionsh...-summer-flight/.

The “Tri-Star” Sizzler on Saturday, July 18 will mark the first-ever appearance of UFo at the famed Port Royal Speedway.  This event was rescheduled from June due to weather.  Like the June date, July 18 has become a prime date with two area Saturday night tracks not racing the Super Late Models.

The “Tri-Star Sizzler” on will feature three powerful divisions.  The UFo Super Late Models will race 35 laps for $3,000 to win and $300 to start.  The mighty 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars will compete in their regular $3,200 to win program.  The event will be a double late model division bonus program with the Econo Late Models also in action.

Port Royal is a fast, sweeping clay superspeedway that receives improvements annually.  This year, new clay and guardrails were installed at the track.  The new clay has been providing spectacular racing in 2015.  Port Royal has been generating strong Super Late Model car counts in 2015 with 32 cars attending their recent $2,000 to win program.

UFo Super Late Model teams please take note that the event a Port Royal will have an open brand, minimum hardness tire rule.   American Racer 44 or Hoosier 1300 or harder tires are required, with a minimum hardness of 32 on the track durometer.   All other UFo tire specifications apply.    Port Royal requires AMB (red) transponders.   Rentals are available at the track for $10.

Admission for the UFo “Tri-Star Sizzler” at Port Royal will be $20 for the grandstands and $7 for juniors 12-18.  All pit tickets will be $30.   The $25 Super Late Model entry fee will be deducted from final payoff.  Pit gates will open at 4:30 with grandstands at 5:00.  Drivers meeting and pill draw cutoff will be approximately 6:00, with warm-ups at 6:30 and racing at 7:00.

On the following night, Sunday, July 20, the UFo Championship will roar back into the Dog Hollow Speedway for the second time of the season.  The “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish Race” brings one of the region’s major summer events back to its home base.  UFo Super Late Models and 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars will race for $3,000 each, with the Street Stocks racing for $600.    UFo Super Late Models will go 41 laps, with 410 Sprints racing 30 laps and Street Stocks 20 laps.   The June UFo event at Dog Hollow generated a 39 car Super Late Model field with 20th starting Dylan Yoder taking the win.

The “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish” race originated at Dog Hollow as a UFo race in 2011.  This event honors track photographer Derek Bobik’s son, who left us that year.   Derek and his wife Diane will hold their annunal Chinese Auction that benefits the Make-A-Wish foundation before the racing begins.   The Bobiks have raised over $15,000 to date for the charity from this racing event.

The UFo “Connor Bobik Make-A-Wish Race” will also feature a free concert by country music singer Ricky Lee beginning at 2:00.   Pit gates will open at 4:30, with grandstands at 6:00 and racing at 7:30.   Pill draw cutoff and drivers meeting will be approximately 6:45.  Rain date for this event will be Sunday, June 14.

This event will include bargain family pricing.   A family with two adults and two children between ages 7-12 will be admitted for $35 including two hot dogs and two drinks.   A family with two adults and three children between agest 7-12 can purchase a ticket for $40 including three hot dogs and three drinks.  Students 13-17 will be admitted for $8 and children 7-12 will be admitted for $6, which represents the same pricing as a weekly show.  Special event ticket pricing will apply to other ticket prices.  Grandstand admission will be $20 and senior citizens $15.  All pit passes will be $35.   Super Late Model entry fee will be $25, which will be deducted from final payoff from the track.

UFo will return to the high banks of Hesston Speedway on Saturday, July 25 for the third time of 2015.  “Speedmonster Mach3” will feature three 30 lap late model features including two 30 lap UFo Super Late Model features paying $4,000 total to win.     The most recent UFo race at Hesston saw 44 Super Late Models take to the track, with Mason Zeigler winning from the 29th position when the feature was complete.

UFo “Speedmonster Mach3” at Hesston will once again utilize a progressive starting field based on car count.  If 33 Super Late Models will see a 26-car feature while 37 cars will see a 28-car feature and 41 will see a whopping 30-car feature.   24th position will be paid $400 total with positions 25+ being paid $375.  All non-qualifiers will receive $150.
