FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Re-Formulated UFo Championship Challenge Debuts at Stateline for $5,000 on August 20 with Bonus Cash for 15 Drivers!

(Mars, PA)  The re-designed UFo Championship Challenge will blast off for its fall event schedule on Saturday, August 20 at the New Stateline Speedway.  Track owners Jim and Jean Scott, along with partner Brian Horner will celebrate the Scott’s 50th wedding anniversary with a mega-event.  “Jim & Jean’s Sweetheart 50th Bash” presented by Overhead Door of Jamestown will pay $5,000 to win and $400 for 24th for the UFo Super Late Models with a total payoff of over $22,000.

The UFo Championship Challenge will feature eight race dates in a five weekend period beginning with “Jim & Jean’s 50th.”  A major change has been made to the tour bonus money system as the previous track point fund contributions will now be paid out directly to the drivers at each event based on driver attendance.  Drivers will receive funds during the racing season instead of waiting until season-end.

On standard events, the top five Super Late Model drivers point standings will receive a $200 flat bonus on top of any event winnings, if they attend the event.   The eligible drivers at each event may change as point standings change.  This will guarantee these drivers a minimum of $500 to start the feature or $350 for non-qualifiers at base UFo payoff events.

Stateline Speedway has massively expanded the list of eligible drivers for this first event to 15 race teams.  The top seven drivers in June 11, 2016 point standings plus the car owner of the leading team, as well as the top seven drivers in the final 2015 point standings will be eligible for the bonus at this event.   With Stateline’s increased payoff for the event, this will guarantee these 15 eligible drivers $600 to start the feature or $400 if they do not qualify.

Points will be reset to zero and new points will start at the 1st event.   The top 5 drivers in the point standings after the 1st completed event will be eligible for the $200 bonus at the 2nd event.   Tracks will have the option of extending the bonus to more drivers at future events on a race-by-race basis.

2 UFo provisional starting positions will be available to the 1st UFo event—1 provisional based from the 2016 point standings and 1 provisional based from the 2015 point standings.   Provisionals will be based on drivers, not car owners.   The provisionals at the 1st UFo event will earn 70 points only regardless of feature starting position, according to UFo procedures.

Please note that if the August 20 event at Stateline is cancelled by weather, Miley Motor Sports has also extended the $200 bonus to these same 15 drivers at the the “Red Miley Rumble” at PPMS on August 27.   If the August 20 event at Stateline is completed, then at least the top five drivers in the new UFo Championship Challenge point standings will be eligible for the bonus going forward.

Pat Brehm stole the extra loot in the 20-lap DM Craig Fabrication & Welding Services FWD 4 Cylinders. Along with the kids bike races the show was over by 11:20.

It looked like Kyle Smith, Jr. was going to take another win in the AMSOIL Pure Stocks. Smith led the first four laps of the 15 lap feature event. On a lap five restart Duke Davidson was able to take the top spot from Smith and then held him at bay the final eleven laps. The win was a career first for the Mahaffey driver. Smith was second followed by Amber Mills, Rick Wicker, Brandi Mills, Mike Benton, Shane Nihart, Brian Savino, John Hayes and Chris Wolfe. Heats were won by Smith and Davidson.

Twin Rocks Mike Laughard took advantage of his pole starting spot to lead all 20-laps of the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Model feature. Laughard had plenty of heat on him with Andrew Satterlee and Jermey Shaffer knocking on his door all 20-laps. Laughard drove to the win over Satterlee, Shaffer, Dave Lee, Mike Ott, Dave Blazavich, Jon Lee, Clint Hersh, John Eckenrod and Jeff Compton. Taking heat wins were Laughard and Ott.

Lake held them off through four cautions as the Uniontown driver won for the second time this season. Rhodes finished second with Joe Martin, Robbie Scott, Alex Ferree, Dave Blazavich, Andy Fries, Chad McClellan, Rick Singleton (from 15th) and Joe Petyak (from 18th) completing the top ten. Robbie Scott, Rhodes and Martin were the heat race winners.

The DM Craig Fabrication & Welding Services FWD 4 Cylinders ran a 20-lap feature with extra money on the line. Front row starters Pat Brehm and Brady Miller went back and forth the whole race. Jack Theys started in 12th and raced his way to third to catch the leaders before breaking an axle. Brehm held off all advances from Miller to take his second feature win of 2016. Brehm and Miller were trailed by Zack Wissinger, Mike Phillipson, John Costa, Chuck Dizzle, Cody Young, Jack Theys, Dylan Young and Jessica Noel. Phillipson and Miller were qualifying heat winners.

A small field of RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stocks found the two top guns, Nate Smith and Ray Hickok lead the way. Hickok pursued Smith all 15 laps but settled for second as Smith won for the seventh time this year. Mike Desch, Brett Bingaman, Corey McPherson and Noah Brunell filled out the field.
