#452379 Another Great Night of Racing at Lernerville: 6-10-22

Posted by 9kchas24 on 15 June 2022 - 07:15 PM

I'm real easy to find, and even easier to talk to, if you want to stop hiding behind a screen name on a message board.  And I dare you to find anyone other than Don Gamble that not only represents the history of Lernerville Speedway, but also the entire Western PA racing community than me.  Hell I'll even buy you a fish sandwich and a Marburger Iced Tea if you'd like to have an adult conversation before or after the races.

Ok...   How about explain the Lernerville Speedway's OFFICIAL explanation of what happened regarding the Garvin SLM win, and droop tech issue???   AND, almost MORE importantly, what's going to happen going forward??  Thanks...

Mark Flinner is always yelling at someone. Nothing new there. I'm surprised anyone pays any attention to him.

If you have Lernerville TV, just watch the tech crew check Colton Flinner's droop, the previous week before, when he won, ( checked out fine ) and then watch the SAME PROCEDURE checking Garvin's car...  Looks to me the car is visibly higher maybe on the LR in the video...   It's ALL right there to see...    I guess the measuring stick shrunk!  Probably just human error or something broke during the feature, but it sure looks to measure high...  Even #1 Team Rocket can get a DQ once in a while... It happens...

#450708 Thunder Mtn Friday no longer ULMS

I'm not bad mouthing the ULMS. But, TMS must not be breaking even or they are losing money on these shows.  Or, maybe they feel they can draw just as many cars without having to pay the sanctioning fee. We don't know because they aren't saying.

It's definitely a business decision, but I'm just pointing out that the sanctioning fee isn't that big for regional series races vs. WoO & Lucas Oil, and those series have from 8-12 series travelers usually ( bigger names granted ) that are "guaranteed"...  ( Eriez WoO show had a total of 26 cars )  Some teams regionally will hit & miss regional shows as their schedule works out, even if they aren't chasing the points titles. Knowing how the race will be run, purse, format, etc., does get some fringe cars to come to a regional sanctioned show more often than just an open show sometimes. ( weather, actual track, other races, etc. factor in.. )  Just to use the TMS recent open race as an example, looked like they got maybe 3-4 cars "extra" that don't run there usually??  So, it's hard to say how many may have came with a sanction, but picking up 4-5 more cars certainly would seem like it could have happened... With the crowds looking pretty good at most tracks, most races, this year, I'd say tracks are doing ok either way, but are just looking/testing the options.  Business is business, and I give all the track owners/operators a bunch of credit for doing what they do so fans can watch good dirt track racing.

#449363 Pad the purse

Posted by 9kchas24 on 28 April 2021 - 06:44 PM

I haven't heard anything from the track but is lernerville doing the pad the purse deal again this year like they did last year or was it a one year wonder

At the driver's meeting Friday night, they said it has been suspended for now. The law firm that was sponsoring it was hit hard when COVID shut things down, and the track is looking for a replacement sponsor.  Law firm is supposed to sponsor the deal again in 2022.

#436018 Little Valley Speedway NY Not Racing in 2018....

Fair board decided apparently to NOT allow any dirt track racing for 2018...  Seems a waste of a good regional asset already in place.

#433794 Hummingbird Speedway Specials September 16th, 23rd

Were you there? Yes, Miley won it, and I give him 100% credit for the win, but Paul Kot definitely had the better race. No question, without the late caution Paul wins. Miley had a killer restart and Paul still came back and raced door to door to the checkered......... in an almost 20 year old chassis. Lol. Fantastic race from beginning to end by the locals AND the invaders.

Just for the record, ( I was there ) Paul Kot passed Miley on the 1st lap of the race after there was congestion up front, and from then on he dogged the 36 all the way until they caught the previous leader, Farrell, whose tires looked to be giving up as you said....  No one knows when the 3 cars got bottled up, who would have come out of there 1st, as the yellow waved, as you said...  And the rest, as they say, "Is history".....  Older chassis, set up perfectly for a track, are as good as any new stuff sometimes ( Miley's 1st visit )....   As everyone has said, GREAT surface, and an exciting race was to be had, with or without that final caution...  The 36 gang are a classy bunch, as they came down to the H1 pit with their congrats afterwards, and to hash over the race....  Hope to be back again sometime...
