DS2, please take your meds.

#448093 Something to think about

ie:  "If you got lateral acceleration which directly relates to speed and grip involved in lifting the left rear corner, wouldn't it leave more effort available for forward acceleration?

I'm also thinking if you used lateral acceleration to lift the chassis the amount of lift would also then directly relate to available grip and speed."

Ds2,  Have you not just entered the pan-hard bar into the equation?  Geeezz, this racecar setup stuff was easy til you showed up! ;)

#445298 Shorter wheelbase question

Posted by Retort on 19 September 2019 - 08:45 AM

"Why not start on the left at the minimum and then move the right side back a little"

I missed the jist of your question in my reply above so I'll give it a guess here.

My guess is with the tightness of turns in general if you had a choice you'd probably shorten both sides.

However you must keep in mind that the Tiffin valve needs readjustment or it will bump the Fostoria function. Nullifying the wheelbase quotient

#443156 Late Model setup question after watching last night at Stateline

Posted by Retort on 29 May 2019 - 01:00 PM

No problem Dirt Student, just having some fun, you are a good sport about it. Sprint cars have a solid front axle so they can't work like a late model. A rule of thumb is the RR gets you in the corner and the LR drives you out. How you want your car to get around the track is the reason there are endless methods to get it done. It is easier to adjust yourself out of shape than into it.

Dirt Student, you might consider taking an interest in non-wing sprint car suspension. It would take the stress out of your life and put a thrill in it.

#441839 Must be the new rush racestud

If something is the official product of a series, I would assume it merely means that some additional point funds money is available, should I use and endorse that product.  Being the official product isn't the same as being mandatory to use. As an example, I would assume tires would be the most common mandatory product in racing.

#441496 any other vets have this problem?

Gee fellas, sorry this deal has grown legs of its own  an has ran adrift from the simple point I wanted to make. If I really wanted to start a argument on here I would claim that brand "WTF" engine oil was the best oil for you engine.

Love those ISMA cars, wish they could return to Toledo for the once a year show. They put on a hell of a show.

McCune wins the caution free 30 lap  wing sprint car feature while under pressure from several cars.

Blown engine going into 3 took out the 4 front runners in the super feature, red 7 car won, sorry can't recall his name.

Sprint cars & Super modifieds will be on the asphalt high banks this Friday. Asphalt isn't my thing but it is a real good show there, as they average 147 MPH !!!!  And you're leaving there about 10 PM, & not 1AM.

I read this same stuff 40 years ago.  Don't write about it, field a car.  Problem solved.
