You're delusional if you think late models have ever reached 150 MPH or more at Eldora.

LOL! I've been waiting for their wandering minds to get them up over 200!

Pretty entertaining stuff. Everyone has thier preferences. Myself, I enjoy sprint car racing the best. Even a bad sprint car race is better than a race in any other division, in my opinion. Having said that, I can watch and will watch just about any class, including asphalt racing. I enjoyed the first two shows at Clearfield, and I'll probably be back in September for the next one. I'll certainly miss the dirt races there, but at the same time, I like to see something different from time to time, so having a big fast asphalt track close to home is nice for me. As for speed, all race cars are fast, some are just faster than others.

That's the same with me T-44O if its loud and fast I will watch it. I don't care if it's dirt or pavement it's all racing to me.

I just don't get why everybody is bashing them for trying something new least they are trying to keep racing in the area.

Some guys would bitch if you hung them with a new rope!

Hmmm....first of all I'm a long ways away from being a "retard." I will put my IQ up against anyone else's on this board, and also the amount of time I have spent in motorsports up against anybody on this board...I have around 40 years under my belt now...as a car owner, crew member, spotter, and race promoter... I totally understand what average speed is, what else are you going to base this argument on? Everybody go stand with a radar gun now? Absolutely anyone who thinks you are going to get 150 mph out of a dirt late model is let me see, Oh yes...a retard...wait...you might get close to that from a dirt late on asphalt... Just saying...

Dirt latemodel on asphalt........... that would be in Ur category........retarded.......... and its not just about dirt latemodels here....... its dirt period. Id bet anyone a 410 Sprint car on the right track will do 150 with no problem. As for people standing there with a radar gun ive seen it myself one night at hesston there were a few cops on duty there and they asked the one if he could use his radar gun on the cars coming into turn one and he did for the features the quickest was the leaders in the latemodels it was 143 mph and sprints was 151 mph and this was the feature...... track was obviously slick.... if it was tacky guarantee latemodels woulda been over 150 and sprints woulda been in the 160s. What are you gana say now ? The radar gun was off ??????? Yea highly doubt it........... and yea Ur actually right for once its not all about speed but as mentioned before dirts alot more exciting. You dont see the asphalt guys throwing there cars sideways going into the turns and racing two or even three wide as you will see on dirt....... you guys arnt going to win this argument itll go on forever.......... dirt drivers are alot more talented admit it...... dirts more exciting to watch admit it..........

I find those speeds a touch hard to believe. I have stood at the end of the front straight at Central PA when it was dirt and a guy had a radar gun right beside me and the highest I remember seeing was 109mph and everyone talked how fast that place was. So what are gonna say now? The radar gun was off??????

Try again Jr........
The fastest 410 dirt sprint car lap on record was set by Billy Pauch on the Syracuse mile(which may as well be asphalt) at 144.950 mph in 1994.
There is no way in heck a sprint car is getting anywhere close to 151 mph on the 4/10 of a mile Hesston Speedway.
As far as cars not running 2-3 wide on asphalt your wrong again Jr.....
Seen Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott running 2-3 wide at CNB last weekend more than a few times.
I guess guys like Larry Moore, Rodney Combs, Jack Boggs, Steve Peles, Clate Husted, and many more dirt late model drivere were "retarded" because they all raced dirt late models on asphalt at Clearfield, Jennerstown, and Motordrome in the past.

You are so full of shit it's ridiculous. Please stop. You are exactly the type of Central PA window licker people on this board make fun of repeatedly. I don't think everybody from out that way is stupid myself, as some of the better posters on this board are from out there, but you fit the stereotype to a tee.

Billy Pauch was going around 170 verified at the end of the back straight at Syracuse when he set the record. The backstretch there is a tad over a quarter mile long. You want me to believe that an entire track that's slightly bigger than that backstretch was almost as fast?

Oh, and when they ran late models at Syracuse for those couple years, they weren't quite hitting 150 on the backstretch.

You know how I know that? When we were going to Syracuse regularly we had a cop that was part of the crew we used to go with and he always brought his radar gun, just for shits and giggles.

Please, just stop.

And for the record, I have a tendency to prefer dirt racing myself.

Dirt Late Models on asphalt are actually quite entertaining. The Keystone Open(s) at Clfd in 95 and 96 were pretty awesome. I drove a top notch Hagerstown semi-late and turned laps in the 19's. The few supers that were there were high 18's. A DLM actually has a ton more motor but isn't so safe on 2x2 disposable frames. My favorite part of this thread is bumping it just to keep asphalt in the spotlight. Oh, and I love dirt as well. Just I grew up on pavement. I own a Troyer SLR I hope to finish soon...

yea maybe they were two wide but there not throwing there cars sideways going into the turn and through the corners and racing two and three wide now are they jack ??????? And ok yea those guys ran asphalt but why are they in dirt now huh ? Because its a Hell of alot better than asphalt..................... and yea maybe Stewart beat those guys but he also owns his own dirt track. Oh and how about last yr there was a thing on speed channel about Stewart and a few other nascar drivers that have ran dirt and they ALL said if they wernt making so much money in nascar they would def be on dirt every weekend instead of being in nascar. Stewart himself said asphalt was boring but nascar is where the moneys at......... explain that one ?

After reading this filth, I am still a fan of dirt, but almost ashamed to admit it. I don't want to be put in a class with a few of these guys posting on here. That said, why are people who will never attend a race on asphalt in a thread about a race on an asphalt track? I didn't go, but I was curious how it went and the results. I was as hurt as anyone that it went back to pavement, but asphalt guys have to travel to see races, so I can't complain that one dirt track is gone when I still have a half dozen or more options within an hour and a half of my house. One I can hear from my backyard on a clear night. I hope the track is successful no matter what the surface, I just choose not to go until there is a full pit area with multiple classes. Not because that's right or better, only because that's what I want to see. Until then, you can find me at hesston, dog hollow, bird, ppms, mercer, Sharon, lernerville, thunder mtn, and any other I decide to check out.

Looks like ull never make it to the asphalt track then because there will never be full pits. This is dirt country not asphalt......... shoulda left the clay on it they woulda been more successful with it
