The crates will be interesting considering Sharon has a FASTRAK Northeast race.
maybe Matt can put the entry fee back to where is should be, now that the guys that e/mailed to keep the $75.00 entry fee won't be there.

there is no real reason for practice on thursday? and plus if there was a thursday practice, all you idiots on here would be complaining about the price it would cost to get in anyways..

Not much pisses me off,but this does. I told you what happened when you emailed, post it!
Work on your car instead of bitching, and you will be further ahead. Someone finally got to me. Congrats Justin!
You know my number, you know my email, you chose to try to make an ass of me and the Miley Family!
You win, go to Sharon, pay your entry fee, pay for gas to get there, we wish you the best!
Looks like its just about time for the only racetrack owner left that posts on Racestud to quit posting anything but PR on Racestud.
When local race teams don't trust people that have been in racing in the area for 42 years and kept the Speedway open for 24 years it's the beginning of the end. Very, very, very sad.
Did anyone notice Heidelburg just got recognized as a historical venue. The most successful Raceway in the history of Western PA became a Shopping center, why would that happen?

Matt,I read all the crying on here every week.I don't know why I keep reading it.I have traveled to many races, spent alot of money traveling, eating camping, etc.,but I feel like the racing at PPMS is second to none.In the long run it is much cheaper & I think the racers who support the track all season long deserve a chance to win & keep the money in our region.I'd just like to thank you for having such a great race track in this area & for putting up with all this crap on here.If you didn't care, you would'nt be on here & trying to please everyone.I'd just like for you to know that a lot of us appreciate what you do.Thanks! Here is the approach we are taking with our special events. They are designed to attract some of the best cars in the region paying some of the best purses in the region, with the prize money usually staying in the region to promote regional racing. Not eveyone can afford to travel. Admission prices are commensurate with the purse being offered. The two day grandstand and pit prices are the same as 2011, no increase. All Saturday only feature event purses are significantly increased with the Supers leading the way at $10,000, while we continue to build the Sprints & Mods, which will be $3000. Pro Lates are holding at $2000, with some pending sponsors that may take that purse higher...stay tuned...while Sportsman are at $1000.
Spin it any way you want, its America! FACT: Five of the best divisions in the area are running for some of the largest purses offered other than National Events. National events are cool to watch, but most often the big purse money gets hauled out of the region.
The old add up my costs and I can't afford to race deal applies to every race night, racing IS expensive!...you won't get it to add up, it doesn't! You may get positive some nights, highly unlikely to go positive for the season, been there done that for 42 seasons...and I would not change a thing, 3 generations of the family at the Speedway on a Sat night, PRICELESS! Some folks have golf, we have racing, neither make money - golf outing I went to today was $100, plus transportation, plus greenies, plus new golf shoes so I didn't fall on my butt on the wet course - I think they over watered it! I'd rather be racing!
Despite the higher prices at a much much much higher purse event your probability of a positive return as a racer is much higher at the Pittsburgher than most weekly shows.
Do weekly racers really pay for every team member? If you do and every team member isn't in the shop all week busting their butts to make you faster and finish in the money shame on you - you are wasting your money. In my day we all paid our own way to help out the race team and the team usually bought some refreshments! Guess times have changed on that too! If you are paying for your own family that's a whole different deal, great if you can afford to pay for entertainment for the whole family. Way back in my day everyone in the family got a job and paid their own way.
My opinion is these deals which are the best the region has to offer for racers and fans will continue if they are supported by racers and fans. Pretty simple really, race or watch the same old stuff week in and week out or see some of the best racing in five of the best divisions the region has, on one of the fastest tracks in the country that has produced some of the best racing in the country in every division that has raced in 2012. No, Scott Bloomquist won't be there to haul the hard earned Western PA money to Tennessee, the money will get to stay at home with some great regional racers in 5 great divisions, many who will get the biggest win of their season and possibly their career...but they probably are not reading this...they are getting ready to win the 24th running of what now is tagged, The Tri Star Pittsburgher! It's a five star deal in my mind! Super Lates, Winged Sprints, BRP Mods, Pro Lates (FASTRAK or EDGE legal), & Sportsman!
Five new regional Pittsburgher Champions will be crowed September 15, 2012, be there to feel the excitement!

>>>> i think mmiley made a good point when he said admission prices are set to keep the place in business next season. If you don't feel it is worth it, boycott this race. Maybe next season you'll be sitting at home wishing PPMS was still around as a weekly place to race at.

That argument does not hold water, a successful business provides a good or service that the consumer wants needs or desires at a price COMPETITIVE with other compareable goods or service in that market while still making a PROFIT. By your reasoning if a local dive bar decides to charge 20 dollars for a well rum and coke and customers decide a rum and coke in a dive bar isnt worth 20 dollars and they stop coming, by your estimation if said dive bar goes out of business its the customers fault ????? When a business goes out of business its the owners fault not the customers fault !! A business fails when it fails to provide a good or service the consumer wants needs or desires at a price point that makes it desireable to said consumers !! This post is not specific to ppms its speaking of business in general...

that would make to much sense.....Matt, since the JOOK race rained out, and you were going to pay $2,000 to win plus rest of the purse, and you were going to pay $2,000 for the Pittsburgher, did you ever consider running the JOOK race on Friday night for that money that you would have had to pay out last Saturday and then do another full program for the crates on Saturday? This would allow the guys who already paid the entry fee to race and since some of them no doubt will be heading to the touring race I believe that would satisfy them so they can run that race. Just another point of view....

Matt while were at the economics lessons , doubling your pay out does not double your cost.. You have fixed costs such as employees, insurance, advertising, maintainance, mortage payments, bar tabs, utilities etc etc those do not change if you pay 10,000 to win or 5000,Thanks for the economics lesson. The pits are $70 for a 2 day. If you are not attending the event due to price, it does exceed your price point, price has driven you away. Price drives all of us away from various things. I won't spend a hundred bucks to go to the opera, I will to go to a race. Someone skipping the races may go spend more than that on a fancy dinner, to each his own. Lowering price is not a guarantee of increasing profits, there are many variables. Your opinion is it would and we respect that. We do have the advantage of having the actual numbers for the last 23 PPMS seasons.
Maybe big regional events are becoming a thing of the past. Do folks really think racetracks are making a fortune? If so, why are the ones that have closed not being reopened by the next person that wants to make a fortune? Some have been, and they are closed again.
Here is the reality of it, it does cost a lot to put on the show, and a lot to attend it, and racing is expensive, but on the stud it gets blown way out of proportion. Someone said about 10,000 posts earlier (it's $10,000 to win by the way) how do you know what the show is worth before its run?
The combination of a $10,000 to win Super Late, $3000 to win Sprint, $3000 to win BRP, $2000 to win Crate, $1000 to win Sportsman has never been done at PPMS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME!
Would you pay $35 for the pits and $22.50 for the grandstands for a $5000 to win Super Late, $1500 to win Sprint, $1500 to win BRP, $1000 to win Crate, and $500 to win Sportman Show? If so double everything and you have the 2012 Five Star Pittsburgher!
Some regional race teams are going to experience the biggest win of their season and perhaps their career at the 24th consecutive running of the Pittsburgher!...with some fan support they will get to do it all over again in 2013! The beauty of this event is it provides an opportunity for the best of the best regional racers we watch week in and week out to duke it out and haul away all the loot! It feeds our weekly racing fix!
Think it all the way through! It benefits regional racing...and yes it needs to benefit the Speedway, so we can do it all over again next year at the Monster Playground!

And just because he doubed the winners share doesn't mean he doubled the purse. A regular 1500 to win BRP show pays 200 to start too.Matt while were at the economics lessons , doubling your pay out does not double your cost.. The mods ran for the same purse (maybe better?) on Saturday at Sharon and paid $30 to get in and only spent one day there.Crates appear to be running for same upside down purse (tow money and pit pass more than start money) they were running for on Sept. 1, but now they have to buy 2 days of pit passes. Late Models are running for $500 for 24th, but after the $100 entry fee is factored in its the same start money as what they paid for their 1 night UFO races. BRP is running for same start money as 1 day race. $70 pit pass plus entry fees. $40 minimum grandstand ticket. There will be there are less than full fields in most classes and about 500 fans in the stands for this one. Just when you thought the race couldn't possibly get worse...
