couldnt agree more. the more i read and research this up coming race. i will be a no show. its like the person in charge of the race is pushing people away. and i thought world racing group was asses.I can't believe that this happened. PPMS had a golden opportunity to steal a large number of cars away from the Fastrak Touring series this weekend and then they go and add $500-$600 of expense for these guys. People that I'm sure would have supported PPMS like Martin, Satterlee, Holtgraver, will have an awful time trying to justify the added expense when they can just go race with the tour. It's a shame that they were going to finally have a race that payed well and time-trialed and now it is being ruined by $75 entry fee, $75 pit pass, and $600 worth of tires to compete.
The Fastrak Northeast is sitting back and licking their chops... cause Miley is basically promoting their race for them. It's truly a shame.

People dont sell " good " used tires for 20 dollars and the haves will buy new tires not used anyway. Its a absurd idea to allow open tires when everyone who runs crates has legal fastrack tires already !!!Its not going to be much more of an expense. Most of the teams would buy new ft tires anyway and after 40 laps most wont run them again. And the guys who wouldnt buy new tires are still going to finnish where they are either way. This is an opportunity for some of the super late teams to sell some good used tires and the crate guys to buy used tires for $20-$25 that will last all weekend. If you dont take advantage of that its your own fault.

It's what it is, we are open minded, we have tried many things this season at PPMS. Some have worked, some have not, the jury is still out on this deal. There are many differing opinions.
PPMS started the Crate division in this region and We have run race cars for a few seasons so we do have a little experience in this deal. There appears to be enough Crate cars in the region to for this to be a win win deal for Crate teams, splitting them up a bit and racing for a nice payday at 2 venues. We were told EDGE cars don't have a place to go this weekend, we hope some of them join the fun at PPMS! We know the touring guys will race the touring event regardless of our rules and we understand that. We wish all the teams good luck this weekend & thank those who have visited PPMS when it fits their schedule.
PPMS letting guys run any tires they want won't ruin Crate racing, it will give racers choice and add more variables into the winning combination.
What will ruin Crate racing is a topic of its own. Things like high dollar fuel, carbs, headers, shocks and other components top my list, not an open tire race where every racer can use what they have, grind it, sipe it, groove it!
The race is at 30 laps, however a $1000 sponsor is pending that may up the laps to 40 and add a fast dash on Friday night! Stay tuned!
A feature has been added for Hobby Stocks Friday night and Young Guns Saturday night per the request of several competitors.
The Monster Truck Show was awesome, Pittsburgher this weekend!

Will the gift certificates be offered for this race since the other was rained out?
Hank,
Yes the contingency sponsors that I obtained for the original date will still be distributed.
They include a $100.00 Rocket Chassis gift certificate for the winner and the 10th place finisher as well as 25 Penske Shock gift certificates.
Also Winner's Circle Motorsports, LLC is providing a $50.00 Hard Luck Award.

are haulers gonna be allowed to stay in pits over night?
In years past you can keep your haulers in the pits, but your not allowed to sleep/stay in the pits over night. Some people bring them up top and sleep up there.

Oh no! the The EDGE crate late models have no where to race this weekend.
WHO luckING CARES!
Not my problem. Not other Crate drivers that race at PPMS. If the Edge guys want to come race with us, they should do so by the rules we have raced under the whole season.
Opening this race to outsiders is a slap in the face to the drivers who have supported the track the whole season. The Fastrak Pro-Late Models have usually had the highest car count every week and you reward them by totally throwing the rule book out the window for the biggest race of our season. I know the whole crate class at PPMS reads this board, I hope they all feel the same way.

Is the edge series that is running at muskigum this saturday the same as the edge rules you are running by?We care Tom.
Bigger events are designed to attract "outsiders". It's no secret the FASTRAK Touring "outsiders" are booked on the Pittsburgher.
Trying to attract some outside cars for our fans to see at bigger events is always a goal, We won't go with the status quo, we will try something. We respect your opinion and we may fail but we will not fail to try!
We installed a series of 7 events for Crates paying $1000 or more to win, we care, and we do want to see a few outsiders, and so far we have. We think our local cars will do just fine. The same tire rules were in effect for the Steel Block Bandit Race and the $1500 got hauled to Burgettstown.
Opening rules here and there for events is certainly not intended to be a slap in the face, and I'm sorry if that's how it makes you feel. That was not the intent. The intent was to provide new competitors and increase car count so we can continue to offer these events to Crate cars. Perhaps it will backfire, at least we tried. If it does backfire, we may be racing for half the money on weekly rules next year.
The crate purse is significantly increased versus 2011 and the 2 day pit price is exactly the same. We will see if the car count goes up or down with this purse and open tires, evaluate it, and move on.
We appreciate feedback, moreso to my email. Guess you just slapped me back. Let's move on. Good Luck to all this weekend!

Why yes they are... Those very same edge crate cars have a race already at muskingham county ohio ... and considering the cars are from that area i would imagine most cars would just stay local ... since crate racing is supposed to be a " budget" class...Is the edge series that is running at muskigum this saturday the same as the edge rules you are running by?

Matt since your open minded to rule changes for big events how about we take the big spoilers off of the spec cars for the late models ???The Jook George Fall Classic at the Pittsburgher is unsanctioned, it's not FASTRAK & it's not EDGE, it's a PPMS open tire rule event, similar tire rule to what was used at the Steel Block Bandit Race where several different combinations were used.
