WoO show had 1 day of the event eliminated and announced the change when the first night was rained out. MCR ran all 3 days and did not cut the purse until the day of the event.

Your really splitting hairs now. The woo show was a 2 day race and it rained the first day so what's the difference if they announce the purse cut at 11pm or 10am ? Either way the woo guys were contractually obligated to stay !!!! Not to mention if they want to stay up in points they had
To race even if it was cut to 5k they had no choice . People can do what ever they want ... The Pennsylvania Hole Beater will be at the pittsburgher

The difference is that WoO show only collected one day of ticket revenue. Reducing the price for all that attended the full show including the drivers that stayed to race. There was no price reduction at MCR. Just a purse cut.

Are you sure about that ? How much were the original tickets and how much were they reduced ? I'm starting to sense people are liberals with penis envy and don't like John Kennedy just because he's a multimillionaire ...

If i were a promoter reading this, these are the three things I would take from this thread:
  • Always pay what you offer!
  • Never run a race with a division that will not bring the fans to support it!
  • When the weather is bad, always cancel, never offer an alternative purse!

They charged a one day ticket price for the full show instead of 2 days. Reduced price.

Here's what I get out of it ... If your a multi millionaire and you love racing just sponsor teams instead of pissing your money down the rat hole that is race promotion. This guy is putting HIS hard earned money on the line to try to grow our sport and you guys just want to bash the shit out of him because they ran for a reduced purse instead of canceling and making everyone drive back another weekend with potentially worse weather !!!

Well Jon don't you just look like an idiot? Can you bl0w this guy anymore for a race you werent even at? Coming up next at PPMS- the 25th annual NDRL Hodgkiss Contruction Pittsburgher 100. 100 Laps, 25K to win. Unless it's 50 degrees out, then it's $10K to win. And if it's under 500 fans its $7500. Special bonus of $500 to the last lapped car that finishes- the Hodgkiss award.

So now its ok for any promoter to simply cut the purse at their whim? Or only the ones that are multi-millionaires that can actually afford to cover their purse? Let's go back to the days of percentage of the gate.

If Jon can get Kennedy's c0ck out of his mouth long enough to answer, he would say the multi millionaires are helping grow the sport of racing by advertising a higher payout then cutting it the day of the race after everyone is there and has paid the admission. Great logic there.

Thinly veiled attempt at sarcasm? If it isn't, then I digress. If it is, then you are delusional.

*Yes, you should always pay the posted purse, or you get what you deserve....unhappy race teams that will probably avoid your race track and/or sanction in the future.

*These big multi-division extravaganzas became all the rage once area promoters saw how much success Challenger had with Fall Fest. By and large, they suck ass. One division people want to see and a bunch of junk nobody cares about, all to get people to the track two or three days in a row, making them sit through endless hot laps, heats and LCQ races just to see SLM's. I'm suppose to sympathize with a poorly promoted event that failed to draw the requisite number of fans and cars in part because the weather was bad? Hell no! and that brings us to point three.....

*Yes, you cancel and reschedule, or hold it over for next Spring and hope for nicer weather. Next year, you hopefully learn from your mistakes and try to get a date a little early in the year and post a rain date. If not, you reduce the overall purse and hope teams still support it. It's not rocket science.

You jokers crack me up. Like Hodgkiss would quote a $150K deck, and agree to accept $100K 2/3 of the way through the job because the home owner tells him he didn't clear in fiscal 2012 what he expected. You people are morons.

And that's straight from the Chad Knaus of race promoting! You exemplify your last sentence.

Yup I'm a dick!!!

My $0.02: You can never cut a purse as a promoter. Cutting the purse AT THE EVENT is probably the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard of. Its downright disgraceful. Then to say crap like "well we gave them the choice between $100 and running it at a reduced purse" is just mind numbingly retarded. $100 is so inconsequential, mine as well have offered them a coupon for a slushy from Sheetz...of course they would rather race. Letting people pick between two shitty options is not doing them a favor. For somebody who supposedly has as much invested in dirt racing, Mr. Kennedy is going to lose a ton more in backlash from fans and drivers at future events than if he just sucked it up. They want to have a national series and are cutting purses? Yea, good luck with that.

I can't see there being another Fall Classic weekend, that has been ruined. I would bet Frye, Decker, and a few others would not come back. It would have been one thing to announce on Thursday night that there wasn't enough cars to pay the purse and would have to cut it, but to make everyone wait till Sunday and pop it on everybody...of course you'll run for the lower purse but guess what, WON'T BE BACK!!!! What makes anyone think the Pittsburgher is going to happen? It was always mid September and the weather was iffy then, now October.... he's banking on rain, just used the Promo to get guys at all the other races <_<

The big question about the Pittsburgher is what will it actually pay and how many laps will it actually run? They not only cut the purse at MCR, but cut the laps from 50 to 35. But everyone paid full price. As high as the prices are for the Pittsburgher, its not worth the risk of going not knowing what you will get IMO.

Personally I'd wait until the day of the show to decide to go or not...camping would be out of the question. Wait to see the weather and who actually shows up.

I'm surprised you could spell exemplify.

Keep kissing the promoters ass, all the way until he locks the gates. Then blame everyone but them that you have no where to race.
