Last they posted was that their was an important town council meeting that they would be given parameters of what they could do. Not sure when the meeting was.

The meeting is tonight, unfortunately sounds like they still have an uphill battle to make it happen. I went to college in Johnstown and had some friends in Ebensburg and people up there took pride in the fact they got the place shut down. I never understood why you wouldn't want all of those people coming into your town. I get the track is right basically in town, but so is Bedford and Port Royal.

no sunday racing now...they are looking at Friday's but will have a 10pm curfew unless they can get a midnight request to pass...all cars will also be required to run mufflers now...from the sounds of it it is just one local bed and breakfast really screwing things up

Welcome to the rise of radical leftism .... In bam bams America the opinion of the vast majority means nothing ... Just look at the morons who say the Redskins are racist .... In bam bams America the opinion of the majority only means anything if it supports radical leftism. With how much trouble other tracks have making money anyone wasting their time reopening this place is on a financial suicide mission ... How does a " bed and breakfast " stay in business ? Or is that where law making go to do their " trysting " ?

Although everyones opinion has to count in America....It seems it doesn't! It only took one person to shut it down temporarily the last time! Is History going to repeat itself? Or Ebensburg Councill going to listen to the MAJORITY! And if they don't...remember these are elected positions! And Nothing is more important to an Elected Oficial than Constituants! And why wouldn't you challenge the Sunday ordinance! They are changed and broken all the time! Just my .02

UPDATE:Results from the Borough meeting The borough did give us approval to Race but underneath very strict Guidelines. We will not be racing Sunday so that left us with a decision to race either Friday or Saturday. We will be pushing for Friday nights if we can get approval to race until 12:00 AM. The next step will be to submit an application to extend the Friday night curfew from 10:00 to 12:00 AM They gave us very strict decibel limits as well. Meaning all cars will be required to have mufflers to meet the required limits. We had people there from the Bed and breakfast who want to fight us tooth and nail. I will keep you all updated.

Yeah... welcome to Ebensburg. My father and uncle ran the track back in the mid 90s. We had the blessings of borough council and most businesses in town at the beginning, but a few influential people in town changed that drastically. All of the businesses still wanted us and came to bat for us at the council meetings (because they got a big boost in business on the weekends), but it didn't matter. The decibel limits were unreasonable and unrealistic, because most big rigs moving through town were louder than what they wanted us to be. It's a shame because we had a good thing going for a while there.

They are making it obvious that they don't want anyone racing there. Like the gentleman said they ran for a year or two in the 90's, and the "power" people in that town got it to go away. Small towns don't change. I would suggest to the investors to go lease TVR or DHS and bring it back to life. JMO

Seems like they are trying to see if Saturday's would work. They are allowed to run Friday from 5-10, they should go ahead and try it. Start with 2 or 3 classes and if things move along well enough they could try 4. No intermissions, and start at 7, it could be done.

From the article in the Altoona Mirror it sounds like they still would have to get a petition passed to run on Saturdays. The town will never let them get the place going.

I do a lot of business for work in Windber and the stadium looks like it would have been a cool place to watch a race. I wonder how it would do with Thunder Valley Closed?

why would you open a place where everyone in town is laying and waiting for one good reason to shut you down ? i loved that place but if the businesses in town don't have the balls to stick up for you then forget it, you will end up like Alby did . there is no way in hell anyone is going to put mufflers on just to run one night then take them back off to go somewhere else . buy Dog Hollow and run it, put some clay on the place and it is ready to go. just seems like a better option to me .

Yea, Dog Hollow. No noise ordinance, the red clay is closer. Great lighting. You can go from pits to grandstands. Decent sound system. Good parking. For sale.

I agree, and both those tracks are in better shape than Ebensburg. They could be up and running with a very minimal amount of work.
