very interesting post from ryan on facebook...also wjac news has picked up the story and will be doing a story coming up...
"My biggest gripe is with the fair board and Atty Jubas. They are the ones who got our hopes up and strung this thing out for 6 months only to turn their back on us because of a few negative people. That's why I'm upset about the whole thing and its important to me that people know the truth. The other truth is the bed and breakfast is in the township. They had no right voicing their opinion in a borough meeting. They do not pay burrough taxes. In addiction we were going to great lengths to appease everyoneone up there and we we going to invest $ 40,000 to upgrade the track to make everyone happy. The bed and breakfast told flat out lies on us during the borough meetings and when they met Atty Jubas. This is why we are here now and this is why the media is involved. The borough and county is going to lose good business I assure you of this."

I would have to think it's either Dog Hollow or Thunder Valley. I hope it's Thunder Valley, I dug that place the couple times I was there.

Dog Hollow...Indiana county Thundervalley.... Somerset county Thunder Moutain, Challenger, Latrobe, All not in Cambria county??? Gee....whats the big secret?
From what I understand, Lentz won't even entertain offers about Challenger, so that's not going to be it, unfortunately. That place was awesome.

they sold the rights to the minerals under the grounds and that company also have all the roads tied up to the speedway...From what I understand, Lentz won't even entertain offers about Challenger, so that's not going to be it, unfortunately. That place was awesome.

Pretty much every track you listed needs major money dumped in them to be race ready.
There's one that you didn't post that seems a better choice and is race ready without dumping a bunch of money on new clay and other improvements.
Hesston Speedway.
And I bet Mr Erickson would be willing to work with them health permitting to see his baby up and running again.

Reason I didn't mention that one is that rumor has it......its taken! NDRL is supposedly interested in buying or leasing! Thunder valley ....or Dog hollow would be the two easyiest to get up and running! Don't know anything about Thundermountain....and Latrobe is in the process of being sold! Weather or not car racing will be in the future there is a questioin...but a possibility. I will beleive any of them are opening when I see it happen!Pretty much every track you listed needs major money dumped in them to be race ready.

If you go to Google Earth and look in on both Challenger and Latrobe, you will realize that you might as well just build a brand new speedway. DHS needed a lot of work when it was still operating. Thunder Mountain is a nice track and facility, and I can't believe it would need a great deal, although it has been quiet for most of the last two years, I think.

How much work would DHS need to be as good as Marion Center? If you go to Google Earth and look in on both Challenger and Latrobe, you will realize that you might as well just build a brand new speedway. THESE ARE THE 2 BEST OPTIONS ALTHOUGH THEY BOTH NEED CLAY AND FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD DOG HOLLOW IS ALREADY SUPPOSED TO REOPEN IN MAY (JUST A RUMOR)I would have to think it's either Dog Hollow or Thunder Valley. I hope it's Thunder Valley, I dug that place the couple times I was there.
