That is exactly what I was thinking....

Well then you'll be a back marker in that class. I personally know of a top runner that pays 10,000 for a motor in his car, might as well run a late model..

Mash the loud pedal.

Better have a pretty stout motor of you wanna win in SS. Track never really got hard slick much last year. There was a time when low $ motor could win but not lately. I have seen some pretty good races at other tracks with micros. If they get a few cars it could work and be something different. Finally, they SHOULD increase the purses with more cars in the field......

Most emod tracks pay @$500 to win. The 2 bbl econo mod would have been a way better way to go. Look at the growth of that class in the last 2 years! Might not be that many in the area but plenty of affordable older chassis out there

There is a lot more than 10 cars in this area and last I heard Blankethill wasn't a for sure deal yet.

i don't know where you have been racing that there are more than 10 cars but there aren't that many.
sportsmans speedway had 16 to start the year because blanket hill wasn't running, then they dropped down to about 10 cars after a month and the last month they had an average car count of 7, except for that extra money show which drew 22 cars and half of them where first time runners there and they took home most of the extra money.and like i said before at least 3 drivers are moving to the sprint cars,so where are all these cars going to come from?

and another thing if i owned a micro or a sprint car i wouldn't race there because of the hazard there!

I know this has nothing to do with the subject of micro sprints at hummingbird but i am pretty sure the semi late class at A.M.P is going to grow by quite a few cars this year with drivers from front wheel drive 4 cylinders and pure stock and at least one former street stock driver building cars . so here is my question ,since you can build a engine for one of these cars in your own garage and the older chasis are available all over the place , how much is this going to hurt the other car counts in the other classes ?because remember if there is less than 20 cars or so in some of these other classes they don't pay as well .and don't tell me to build a semi late because the last i checked the parts on this economy class late model cost just as much as parts on a full blown latemodel .has anyone heard of any other new cars being built for these tracks (Hummingbird or A.M.P.?)

Now dont get offended because im not picking on you but this is in no way accurate imformation. Sportsmans did infact start the year out with a higher car count then they ending with. The micro car count was in the 20's (22 to be exact) until Marion center opened up to micro"s. Which left 16 regular cars. Towards then end guys had some torn up equipment and/or couldnt afford to race and parked them for the year. MICRO MANIA drew 31 cars paying a "special purse" of $500. Out of 31 cars i can only think of 2 that were not local. Trust me the car count in western PA isnt a dismole as you seem to believe. Many guys own cars and dont run them simply because the payout in this area isnt well. Well hummingbirds payout is the best ive seen in this area for quite some time. I know all this because I lived it and i keep records of everynight we race, Where I start, Where i finish and how many cars.

And I read a few people talking about payout, Nobody has a clue what one of these little cars costs.
$8k for a roller,
$5k for a motor (many of us have several motors)
$1700 for a shock a good package,
$3k in tires for a season
This is all new stuff and you can certainly buy someones used up junk for far less.

By the end of last season i was well into $20,000 for my "hobby" so please dont think because the cars are little that they are cheap. I also know that some of you latemodel guys have way more invested then that and i can definatly respect that. If you dont believe me go to these sites and see for yourself. www.hyperracing.com or www.rtschassis.com youll find all my pricing to be consistant to the actual retail. So i hope that little bit of info helps you see why the payout is justicfiable.

On a side note i am absolutley stoked to be racing hummingbird in 2014. I 100% enjoy the place and cant wait to be a part of the action. I cannot wait till the season opener and im not alone, Almost every western PA micro i know is planning to attend. I really see this going well and i hope we can prove our worth and be a valuable asset to the saturday night program. Ill see you all in the spring!

By your justification the late models should pay 5k to win and 500 to start for weekly shows ... That would be great but the fans are unwilling to absorb the type of front gate fees for that type of payout

And the question remains, WHY??? I like watching the street stocks, don't get me wrong. But the cost versus the reward is way out of whack... Some of it is the tracks fault for allowing the class to get to the point that it is now, but some of blame also has to be carried by the teams that race in that class. Spending more than the cost of a 602 crate engine for a stock class is crazy in my opinion... I have heard of teams that have $10,000 or more in their street stock engine, and I've also heard of teams that have less than that in a complete semi-late..... Which makes more sense?

The one thing that also gets me is the tracks really aren't doing much for the class. New classes are being developed across the region. If a track would take the money they are going to payout to a new/different class and add it to the street stock purse, then the cost versus reward gets much better. Instead, tracks are leaving the payout for the class alone and adding new divisions, or dumping the division all together. Just my opinion, but a track that pays the stock $750 to win and $100 to start could corner the market...

Who the F really cares about micro sprints, you have no stars running late model at your track. If you wana pack the stands and get some needed respect and notoriety then grow a set, take advantage of dog hollow closing down, Marion center not caring about their drivers and AMP being a flat out joke of a race track and open the bird up to super late model and pay the modern day pay outs. There is a reason people go to see the woo series/drivers, they have name brand guys that race for nice purses. It's not that hard to figure out people.

The reason the big series can draw big crowds is that they do not flood a market. They race in different regions each week. If the WoO only ran at one track, I do not care which track you choose, it would fail. If you want to race for the big purse each week then grow a set and haul your ride to race with the "name brand guys" I think as local racers we should support any class. I am glad that HB is trying something new and wish them good luck. Good luck to every racer & fan in 2014!!

You know what I'm getting at jerk wad, you and your stupid mentally of your area is why hummingbird is struggling and has no name brand drivers who can leave that track and be successful elsewhere. Glad your happy with half assed attempts to make the track better. Keep on keepin on being at the bottom of the food chain.

F the micros, open up the late models and pay $1k or more to win and you will never have to have this conversation topic again.

Didn't Marion center fail running this stupid class, oh hey might as well add 3/4 scale late models too because they made Marion center so much money.

There are track's out east that pack the house with micro's,and 600 mini sprints. The reason being that they are only running the smaller type of car. They do not race them with full sized cars ,and try to fill a program out with them. They also have a more modern pay scale for ALL CLASSES big, or small car. If track's would pull their heads out of their asses and work together instead of trying to shaft each other weekly they might draw car's in. Why are tracks adding classes when they can't fill the one's they already run? Drop the low count classes, and add the purse to the higher count division's. Provide a quality product to the fan's ,and give the driver's something respectable for a pay out. These track's are run like our government keep taking from us, and we get crapped on in the end. Bottom line is thin the herd so your track can survive,or join the other shut down track's collecting dust rather than throwing it!

Linda's speedway comes to mind, and trail ways speedway also. I HATE THE MICRO'S, but there are track's that cater to them and are successful. You can find more track's on the micro racing sites if you care to investigate. Paradise speedway in New York get's a full house of micro's also. I am not standing up for them, just saying they are popular in some area's.

I'm not so sure everybody would agree with you on Lernerville paying what should be paid. But for Eldora running micros, they've actually talked about having a mini kings royal on the smaller track they recently built. If you would check out Linda's Speedway, Greenwood Valley Action Track, Path Valley, Trail-Way, Kutztown, Hamlin, Lanco, or just about any micro track out east, you'll see that these little cars can be a big deal.
