Racing is hurting almost everywhere, promoters don't really know how to deal with what is going on.

They need to put a business model in place that makes sense. ( cut costs for racers )

For the first time in a long time all three asphalt tracks are open in the area,

A way needs to be found to support these tracks even if its on a limited schedule or they will disappear forever.

The only racing category that seems to be expanding is the lost speedways.

After reading all the posts on this subject I think its time to try save our sport.

The only people that can do this are the racers themselves.

I'll start with saying, the promoter at Motor Drome did a very good job to stabilize that track and has plans to expand the racing program in 2015.

Jennerstown opened with an grand plan that was rained on and didn't have the support it needed it thrive.

I'm told they will try again to make this track work. ( lets help them )

The CNB track has been open for limited shows for several years without a plan for the future, but at least they are open.

Racing is like baking a cake its needs to have all the ingredients, Racers/promoters/fans and tracks that want it to work.

Support your local track or read about in future versions of lost race tracks,

This is just my opinion, what's yours?

When they turned it back to dirt they shortened it up. Did they make it back to original size when they went back to pavement? We ran it dirt in 08 and that place was fast.

Anyone believing a magic wand will be waved over that place in 2015 is living in the land of unicorns, lollipop lanes and candy corn mountains. But keep up the hope. If there's one thing Clearfield 'studders' are good at, it's running a track from a keyboard.

If anyone needs a keygen crack for the Home Racing Promoter Simulator, let me know. You got two tracks to run this upcoming year. All those other sims were flops.

Off topic, but I read on the Jennerstown Speedway facebook page the guy running the track this year was bouncing checks left and right at the end of the year. Lots of unhappy people from looking through the posts for an hour form concessions workers to drivers.

I think dirt is the way to go if they want success. Jmo. But if they were to stay pavement make it cheap so ppl can either switch easy without spending a lot of $$$ and for those who want to start up racing can. Crate lates etc would assist this

Back to my post above, the Pro-Cup series is now the no cup series.

Not enough support to keep it going.

Almost twenty years gone in a flash.

There is a lot of talk about the cars and teams having no place to race.

They had a place until yesterday and no one came.

Its a shame.

Back in the day there were three asphalt tracks to race at within towing distance of each other...there were a lot of cars in all of the classes...but as I said before even people that LOVE asphalt racing are hesitant to run out and purchase a bunch of stuff and start building due to the instability of those same three tracks now...don't know much about the stability of Motordrome, but Jennerstown has had issues, and Clearfield has a long way to go to once again be called "stable."

Well that series did announce it split into two separate touring groups. I don't see the success going forward by taking 8 to 11 cars and dividing them.

Pro Cup Series transitions to a two series format in 2015

MOORESVILLE, NC - Officials with Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) have announced the transition of the Pro Cup Series into the birth of a new dual event featuring the CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour and the CARS Super Late Model Tour that will both begin competition in March 2015.

The two individual tours will run on the same night, at the same exact facility, for just one ticket price, giving fans a true “best of both worlds” experience when it comes to pavement short track racing.

The newly formed tour will award $43,000 in combined purse money each and every race plus additional contingency cash and awards to be added over the off season. The Super Late Model event winner will walk away with $5,500 while the 30th and final finisher each week receives $550 for their efforts. On the Late Model Stock Car side of things each winner will take home a $4,500 winner’s check with the 30th and final finisher receiving $450.

The season will feature ten events throughout the 2015 calendar year with a distance of 150 green flag laps for both the Super Late Models and the Late Model Stock Cars. Each class will utilize just four tires for the race each event.

“The decision we’ve come to today has been a long and thought out process of what we wanted to do as a sanctioning body going forward. We feel this will give us the best possible product to offer fans, sponsors, and competitors alike,” stated series owner Jack McNelly. “To our knowledge this is something that hasn’t been done before; taking two premier type race cars and putting them on tour together in a “special event” style format each and every time we race throughout the season.”

Each tour will feature cars that fit individually under the soon to announced Late Model Stock Car and Super Late Model rule books issued by the series in the coming weeks. The former Pro Cup machines that have been used under the CARS sanctioning body will not be approved for competition in either class going forward.

“We have worked very hard and did everything we knew to do to make the Pro Cup Series work, but over time we just couldn’t get the series headed in the right direction no matter what we did,” explained McNelly. “The Pro Cup cars and series will always bring back fond memories for me personally but today it’s about moving toward the future and what it has to bring.”

Several new things will be coming forth from the CARS Tour in the coming weeks as a very busy off season is already in full swing for the sanctioning body. Soon to be available will be tour rulebooks for each class, team and driver registration, 2015 schedule, and the unveiling of a new website and branding platform will be made available.

For more information and to stay up with all the latest news and information on the all new CARS Late Model Stock Tour and the all new CARS Super Late Model Tour visit CARSRacingTour.com.

The Nascar K&N series race was good show a couple years ago.  I thought it was neat to watch future nascar stars like Kyle Larson and Chase Elliot racing in Clearfield.  I also enjoyed the late model specials.  I don't think you will ever draw a huge crowd for an asphalt late model race, like they drew for the big dirt late model races.  I think a Super Modified, or Nascar Modified show might draw some interest, depending on the ticket price.  I don't see weekly racing being profitable.  Not enough teams, and definitly not enough fan interest in this area.

I often thought of combining a classic car show with a race day.  Schedule a late model show, and leave the gates open during the afternoon practice session.  People can check out the car show in the parking lot, and check out practice as well, and eat at the concession stands.  The car show might draw some people to the speedway that normally wouldn't attend, and maybe they would stick around for the race that evening.

The press release talks about fond memories of the series.  ( pro cup name is gone along with the cars )

The cars will not be approved for competition in their new program.

They are not dividing them they canceled them , that the part that stinks.

I hope this place can make a go of it.  I enjoy going there.  Asphalt or dirt.   They had some successful dirt shows, and there are a lot more dirt cars in the area.

Is there anything else running at CNB on the Super Cup dates?

How about trying a street stock special race in conjunction with the super cup race?

There was only four or five street stock cars last time.

What would it take to get more cars to compete and who would be in charge?

How about the CNB Challenge? A race or a couple of races to see who would be the king of high speed street stock racing. Or maybe Pennsylvania vs New York vs the East Coast street stock racers?

Are the rules for Jennerstown and Motor Drome street stock cars close enough to race each other?

What about jmmr who said he had several cars but didn't come because of last minute rule changes.

How about running the cars that are from other tracks all together in a three races series!

Big Ten Super Stocks look pretty cool...they are close enough that you might be able to get them interested in something at Clearfield...

Those are some great ideas.  Would be nice to hear from current Street Stock or Big 10 Super Stock competitors in the area and see what their interest would be in maybe some sort of mini-series to support Super Cup at CNB or in Pennsylvania.
