If only we could get rid of the crates so we can get back to racing the way it used to be, before people cheated.

^^^^thats sarcasm (for the slow people)

It's displaced sarcasm if it was directed at me, because I never suggested for a minute that there wasn't cheating before the advent of Crate engines. I think Crates have their place; racing against other Crates. If people want to use one in a Stock class, fine. But they shouldn't get any special breaks. That's why I suggested they have their own Stock class if so many people want to use them.

Wasn't directed toward anyone. Just the idea that every time crates are brought up, cheating seems to enter the conversation.

If you keep the crates with a RUSH/Fastrack builders tag (can't buy those on Race Junk
or E-Bay)this will keep the cheating away from the crates.
At LV the only driver that has won with a 604 is Cory and Cory won with a 358 and he would win with just about anything, the kids good! (I think Terry Young might have won with a 604 also)
I really think you need to worry about some of the other engines in that class the 81 sound all hopped up and check some trannys, rear ends and chassis. Someone mentioned the 55 needs checked, that's not motor that's chassis and set-up. (the driver is also very good)

Crusty that  hopped up sound you hear from the 81 are the Howe 180 degree headers they have a very distinct sound. Some of the old late models years ago used Art Howe headers , I was surprised to hear that sound again , hadn't heard that sound for 30 years probably. I don't know if the car owner bought new ones or if they still had them from his dads old racing days.

I like the #81's throwback roar, pretty cool.

Just wondering, what's your racing plans for the upcoming season?

And that was 3 seasons without a rebuild...straight out of the crate. So that's 5 seasons on 1 rebuild! I loved seeing my old motor sitting in victory lane at Lernerville against all of those big motors!

And we all saw how well that class took off.

And that's my point precisely. The push that this engine concept receives from various regional entities isn't commensurate with many teams that have the option to use them or self built/speed shop engines.

At any one Friday at Lernerville last season, on average about one quarter of the starting features used Crates.
On average. Some nights more, somes nights less. It's my opinion that out of those eight or so teams, most were using them because they could, not because they could'nt race any other way.

I am also of the opinion that Crate racing should be kept segregated. If it stands on it's own merit, so be it. If not, then let it go the way of the old Six Cylinder class.
