How many issue's are a on going area of concern at the speedway ? Light's, speaker system, grandstands, clay or lack of, weeds growing up over the walls. Water or not to water. A announcer that gets no help what so ever. Concessions, that may or may not have food. Car counts that have to be close to the worst of any Saturday night track. J2000, you say you spoke privately and it was a mistake. Is he also the guy that preps the racing surface ? Or, is this person a control freak that can't let people do there job. You along with I'm sure others will be there with your throw away grills on Saturday night s after the place closes. DO YOU REALIZE, someone could have been seriously hurt racing in those conditions ? A mistake. I'll consider your reply a mistake too.

it doesn't matter what you say, Justin, they don't want to hear it, regardless. They're just hanging on to it in the hope that they can find a buyer, and milking it dry, so NO ONE will ever be able to save it.

Did I say F PPMS! Shut it down! Go somewhere else! No. I replied to Bob Heims post that it was dusty. Which it was. That's all I'm saying about last week. On to next week.

Your last sentence sounds like the promoters theory also. All I'm saying is if it wasn't for ppms 90% of the racer's would be done racing period. They don't travel and are locals, therefore the people can charge $200 pit passes this weekend and everyone will still be there because they have no where else to go to closer.

Justin  I thought about pulling in. I've never raced in worst conditions in my life. You can't even call that "racing". You couldn't even see your hands on the steering wheel. I hit the wall because I couldn't see it. You couldn't even race anyone because you couldn't see them! Not having a water truck is not an excuse WHEN YOU OWN A DIRT TRACK!

I definitely don't blame the Underwoods for the condition on Saturday. I'm guessing that either the water truck was broken or they decided that it was getting too late, and they probably thought it would be fine. I spoke to Matt privately about it, and he said that it was a mistake, and they'll try their best not to let that happen again. I don't think it warrants torches and pitchforks at the front gate.

j20000 why can"t Matt come on here and say that, he ownes the track. I"m sure he would get some respect if he admits a mistake. And then show he"s trying to make it right. That"s all anyone is asking!

Guessing still after you talked to him privately? Sounds like you got fed a turd by Big Mac.

As horrific as the conditions were, they should of stopped the racing and fixed the problem......PERIOD!

Not an oops...It wasn't a mistake, it was total disregard for safety of drivers, their family and fans.

TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

As I recall, this is the same conditions that caused Larry Kugel to get the boot way back when.

It's been going on for many, many years, they know exactly what they are doing to you, being cheap and sticking it in your ass, as they do with everything with their cash grab business mentality.

Someone at ppms(Matt) thinks controversy sells tickets. I think that putting out a quality show sells many more tickets. See golden years of pittsburgher and more recently the allstar sprint shows and laboon memorial race.Matt doesn't care or want to understand that people are tired of getting bent over at the back gate for every special race(lol) especially when I pointed out all the money Vince raised for his race, but yet Matt still felt it fair to charge extra to get in. Maybe if people saw the extra money being put back into maintanence of the facility instead of someone's pocket they wouldn't be as annoyed. A quality business manager would set up a meeting with his consumers( I.e. Drivers and fans) and attempt to get feedback on how to improve his business concept, instead Matt chooses to ignore any criticism and continue to run the place into the ground. I have supported the track since the mid90s, but now only go to some specials. I personally never met red, but know now he was the true brains behind ppms. As stated above, the only way to augment change, may be a boycott of the place. I missed last week thankfully, and was glad to hear no got injured!

Matt bumped up the base purse for the laboon race. Everything that vince raised was on top of that base purse. Thats the reason for the hike at the back gate.

Larry kugel was banned for fighting the entire track staff on the front straight away. I don't know what caused said fight to happen but I was watching that night and it was straight up WWE on the front straight . With that being said that's long enough ago that he should be allowed back at this point

I seem to remember Smokey, up on the hood of Larry's car, at one point...

the dust was as bad as last week, the limited feature had myself and over half the field destroyed coming out of turn 2 when a car got sideways(Cellone?)and people kept piling in..Larry saw that happen then they sent the mods out without touching the track, his car got tore up and the rest is history.
races were cancelled for the night after that.

What happens if. The dust bowl rises for the pittsburger ? Someone goes threw the grandstands ? The lights go out and/or they set up the portable lighting that blinds driver's coming out of the corner ? The line to get in is backed up to the hard road because they only have 2 people selling tickets ? It will be interesting to see what happens if any of the above occurs, and how the Lucas people handle it.

2002

i watched the entire thing from the line-up area , it was rather entertaining and it was due to poor track conditions.   ole Larry was swingin at anybody that got in his range!

in 1997 i watched Matt Sherlock beat the shit out of Richy Curry on the front stretch, from the line-up area also. i remember Sherlock running down the track at Curry who was stuck in the Ute tires, as Matt was coming over the car, Curry threw his helmet at him then fell into a fetal position and got his ass stomped , that one was also entertaining

Willie do you remember the brawl in 1988 with Curry on the front stretch? My Dad was involved too and just sat in his car. People were climbing over the fence to get at Curry and I remember his girlfriend swinging his steering wheel at people lol. If I can burn it from my old LJ Video tape I will post!

I actually have pictures of that 1997 brawl. It was after a heat race if I'm not mistaken. I'll post later if I have time.

So Larry was just serving up some "street justice". You can't blame him for being pissed if his car got tore up because of someone's laziness ..... But I see the management didn't learn from it , still doing it all these years later ...
