Racer17l, your beating a dead horse! Just stick to promoting your race and that's it. Your gonna be like the mileys and get beaten down real bad if you keep sucking up.

Doug, all he said was "don't compare apples to oranges, and spoiled ones, at that"... I don't care for him kissin Miley's a$$ either, but you gotta understand, his Dad loved the place, and he grew up, there.

I'm not defending the prices, I'm pointing out inaccuracies.  If someone posted the Firecracker was $100 for a two day show in an effort to bash a track or said the Applefest was $50 for a 5 day show I'd correct them too.

Yes Tim, apples to apples is the point here.  If I was running a small business, say a restaurant, and someone incorrectly said I'm charging $12 a plate for something you can get down the street for $8, I'd be p!ssed.  I for the life of me don't understand the constant bashing of ALL these local tracks when they're a dying breed with razor thin margins that could put them out of business with one bad show (see Motordrome 70 Speedway sprint show in the late 80's).

When I can almost name more places I've raced at that are now CLOSED versus open, that is a problem!

Agreed, BUT, if the promoter does everything he can, to shoot himself in the foot, he oughtta wear steel toed boots...

Agreed there too, but I don't WANT to see people or tracks fail.  Even if the criticism is deserved.  I guess that is where I am different.  Trust me, I'd have a lot more free time and money in the spring if I didn't do my Dad's race but I love seeing the turnout and support for his cause.  And giving guys something to be proud of winning or even making the race.  In spite of any issues that come up.

The prices are what they are.   Business owners charge what they feel they need to make a profit, it's simple capitalism 101.  Not saying it isn't expensive, but if the prices offend you, then don't go.  The electric company, the gas company, oil companies all charge whatever they want, and you either pay it or forego the service.  Don't get me started on cable TV.

while I agree with what you said flash, the difference is if you have cable and don't like that company you can choose someone else who will come to your house and install their service. If you don't like what the track charges, you might have to drive 2 hours away to find an alternative.

Another view to look from..... $75 to see a Lucas show beats the hell out of $150 to see a NASCRAP race, but I bet everyone on here has done that more than once. A weekly show somewhere for $10-15 might suit you better. Whatever fits your budget I guess, or your entertainment per dollar expectation.

I'd pay those Pittsburgher prices if I wasn't currently in a personal boycott of PPMS. I know they're high. I know the prices at PPMS are always higher than comparable shows elsewhere. If you're just now figuring that out, evidently you haven't been there much, if at all, for any special shows in last dozen or so years.

Guzzo, I'd personally rather see a $50K to win show with 70 cars for the same money myself, but you are not posting the right prices above.  If you're going to post stuff like this at least be honest and accurate.

North South 100 was a 2 day show, and Thursday was hotlaps.  If you wanted to go Thursday, it was $15, so your 3 day show was actually $90.  They also had UMP mods as part of the programs.  Stands were $55.

Pgh 100 is also a 2 day show at $75 and $50 for stands.  They are also having Rush lates and Sportsman.  So if you want to figure that into the racing you'll see you can.  But yes the top purse is $30K less for the same pit fees on a TWO day show.  So I agree with you there.

Missing my point......

I was stating pit pass pricing as that would be my choice for the weekend --- I honestly could care less about grandstand pricing:

$75 for Fri/Sat 2-day show for 12 heat races, 3 B-Mains, 2 Dashes and 100 lap feature @ Florence   (Thursday was practice only no racing which was rained out and cancelled anyway)

$75 for Fri/Sat 2-day show for 4 heat races, 2 B-Mains and 100 lap feature @ Pittsburgh   (I could care less about no passing, no racing, few cars out at a time qualifying)  (Thursday is a totally separate show)

My point was I watched way more Late Model racing for my $75 at North South.   Even if Florence didn't go with the non qualifying format, it was still more racing as it would have been 6 heat races, 2-3 B-Mains and 100 Lap Feature

Support classes are just that whether it is the UMP Modified or the Rush crates - both tracks got them.  Did you ever watch how many people leave the grandstands for a beer run, concession stand visit or restroom break during those classes?  Majority of people there are not there for the support class.

You get way different field of cars based on the purse.  $10K races lucky anymore to get in the 30's with car counts.

The car count for a $20K purse vs. a $50K purse is going to be vastly different as well.

All I am pointing out is my $75 at Florence was better spent and I personally feel the Pittsburgher is priced just a little high....

I could care less if anyone agrees or disagrees.

The firecracker is the best deal around the area period. $69 for reserved seats, plus 2 day pitt pass thur and friday included! Then if you want a sat pit pass it is $10 more, total $79.00

Plus all the concerts, activities, parties, ect is worth it alone.

What is PPMS having, a guy playing music out of his back trunk friday?

In the past, PPMS has had a DJ set up outside the gates on Friday night after the races on Pittsburgher weekend. I don't know if they're doing it again this year.

It's not what it used to be. Most of the people up there are as obnoxious as a black dude who refuses to work bitching that " times is rough "

i agree, the parties years ago were great. The past 6 years have sucked, hasnt been a great party since the transformer blew one nigh and there was riots at the track!

I think the transformer was 2004? I'd say there were some good ones 2007-2010 but then they kind of died down. Hell we used to have annual football games Friday night all boozed up. Hopefully this year is good.

If the legend gets all boozed up after 2 PBR it just may be.
