No I understand exactly that racing is a hobby.  Just because I live in a county that you do not respect does not mean that I am toothless and uneducated.  I forgive you for calling us all clowns in this area.  There have been a number of people that give us all a bad name.  But don't disrespect us all.  In fact I clear 50k a year as an engineer but hey I live on Meth mountain right?  I also don't build a 25k race car just to look at it in a shop.  you talk about losing money each week, If you can't make money winning 1100 in a feature, then you're trying too hard.  sounds like mis-management

thanks for the cred.  now learn some respect for racestud,  that will add cred also. maybe you could find a deck builders chatroom and harass them and call them meth heads. while bragging about your money.

Clear 50k a year? LOL I heard you have a 2500 race car that sits in the yard for you to look at.

Per Thunder Mountain's Facebook page they have added a shock claim rule of $200 per shock.  They have also mandated stock crankshafts that must weigh a minimum of 48lbs.  That seems like a very good rule but awfully tough to tech.

I also agree that the payout will go a long way to determining the longevitiy of the class.  Hopefully, it ends up somewhere around the $300-$400 range to win and $100 to start.  I think if a decision had to be made the lower amount to win and the higher amount to start would be beneficial.  Maybe even allowing the driver free pit admission for this year to help grow the class.

I think you could conceivably see $400 to win and maybe $75 to start.  Right now the Limited lates get $100 to start so I don't see a lower class making the same amount.  Not at Hummingbird anyway.

As for Thunder mountain's Crank rule, That rule is going to be very hard to tech and probably not going to be teched unless somebody wants to be a dick.  Has anyone heard whether or not they will be sealing these engines?  I heard somewhere that Hummingbird intended to have all the Semi's sealed.  There's nothing on their website about it.  I like the idea, and wish they would do for all classes with the exception of Limited lates.  Maybe a little unrealistic, idk.

is this a weekly class at hummingbird and thundermountain?      and crankshaft rule is just plain stupid.  teching will be hard enough without that.   more guys will drop back a class rather than move up anyhow. so catering to stock class motors doesnt help. and spoiler height, deck height rule is another plain stupid rule.  doing things to chase people out isnt good.  crankshaft, spoiler and deck height, are small infractions that dont change the speed of the car enough to worry about. after the race the car comes up in the rear by fuel burn alone. not to mention if there is mud stuck in the coilovers or bent shock shaft, or deck raised because of restart artists.  every other time i raced there somebody shoved the back of my car for 5 carlengths during restarts.  why have rules that cant easily be teched?     steel block late models should be 358s anyhow.

Fuking deck height is a rule everywhere !!!! No one on earth has any problem teching it. The rule is after the race how much fuel are those huge hammers going to burn on that show box size track ?? 2 gallons ? Maybe 3 ? Takes about 400 lbs to lower an average latemodel an inch assuming no indexing which isn't even the case . So your 20 pounds of fuel is going to raise you what ?? A 1/16th ??? Maybe start a 1/4" low then slick !!

48lb IS the rule (as per Thunder mtn Facebook). Hummingbird doesn't specify a weight, but both leave the wording a little gray. How do you interpret "oem stock stroke cranks only". Does it have to be an oem part (gm part number on it) or does that just mean it has to have stock stroke, but can be an aftermarket part?

If you look at hummingbirds rules it says oem stock stroke, and thunder mountain is running pretty much same package so maybe they possibly forgot the word stroke?
