Track was not rough. Been racing PPMS many years and it was fine given the rain Friday night. The issue was too many guys not looking over their air cleaner.

I thought the track got a bit rougher in turns 1 and 3 as the night wore on. Talked to one of the super snuffers who said the same thing.   Went down to turn one to one to watch the second crate LM feature and noticed the difference to when I was there at the beginning of the night.  I said "something's going to happen on the start down here" - and it did.  The track also seemed to be more tacky and muddy after the sun went down and it got cool, which may have led to some drivers thinking they could dive into the turn and make it stick.  So I agree with Vince about some of the driving, too.

The crate races of old are back. Takes forever to get 20 laps in 2 weeks in a row now. PPMS is a different monster for those who dont run it weekly. Hopefully the drivers get it figured out for the Jook race. Should be a great show thanks to Branden!

Sorry yeah I need to edit my post some. Yeah of course it was rough in spots, especially low in turn 3 by the opening. That little dip was there for the sprint show too. I just meant it wasn't a cornfield top to bottom. The wrecks weren't caused by drivers hitting ruts. They were just hitting each other.

I've heard even crates and stocks are locking down the right front for aero reasons like I hear cup cars do.  If what I hear is correct maybe having about zip for suspension at a corner of the front end might contribute to not being able to handle bumps.  I also wonder how all the suspension travel getting rear steer does to their ability to handle even small bumps on a track at PPMS speeds?

 

I don't know just asking about what I have heard.  I don't know if it's right or wrong only throwing it out there for discussion.

 

 

edit:  I also see a big difference between sprints as in Tony's car being able to drive around the top at a fast speed and watching a crate around the top at a slow speed with the front end over to the left somewhat sideways, hanging the front end over the banking trying to get grip with rear steer.  

 

I've watched crates from both inside the turn between corners 1 and 2, inside between corners 3 and 4 and at each end and middle of the stands.  Sure compared to the sprints from the stands it's like watching paint dry, but even crates at PPMS are going fast.

Is this guy serious? I wonder if the fact that a sprint weighs 1200 lbs and has 900 horsepower & that Big wing has a infuence how a sprint handles ?? 😂😂. Probably has nothing to do with that wing putting thousands of # of downforce. "Watching paint dry ". Lol , the slowest crate is still faster than you have ever went !!!

Is it not common or gaining in popularity to lock down the right front of both lates and stocks?   The discussion on here was about how bumps in the track may have messed up handling on crates leading to problems keeping cars away from each other.

The guy cares enough to ask and is genuinely interested. Yes sometimes its way out in left field topic or idea wise but If its that annoying and you can't help but be a dick then just move on. And this OP is hilarious I'm sure the track is great but when your asking guys in victory lane what they think they tend to say this is a favorite place. Richards loves PPMS but also just said Macon may be his favorite place right now... because he just won. Kin sr. May say he likes the new surface at sharon in victory lane but that doesn't match his opinion when there isn't a mic in his face. I have no issue with ppms but touring driver testimonials are about as relevant as campaign trail propaganda. Not everyone is Brachmann getting out in victory lane at Knox and being annoyed that the night took too long and the track needing improvements.
