Kyle Hardy Invades And Wins Dog Hollow Late Model Feature; Rick Wicker & Robert Cossell Earn Career Firss In Pure Stocks & Crates While Smith & Brehm Repeat.

STRONSGSTOWN, PA (August 26, 2016) After a two week hiatus Dog Hollow Speedway returned to action with Winchester, VAs Kyle Hardy picking up the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature. Also winning for the first time at DHS was Rick Wicker (AMSOIL Pure Stocks) and Robert Cossell (Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models). Nate Smith (RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stocks) and Pat Brehm (DM Craig Fabrication & Welding Services 4 Cylinders) were repeat winners.

An extremely thin field of RD Shaffer Well Services Street Stocks saw Glen Campbells Nate Smith win for the ninth time this season. Smith led all 15-laps to beat out Joe Wrona, Brett Bingaman, Ray Hickok, Jr. and Greg Hauger. Hickok won the lone heat.

Mahffey driver, Rick Wicker, parked his AMSOIL Pure Stock in victory lane for his career first win. The former motorcross racer took the lead from Brad Nesline on lap four and began to pull away from the field opening a big lead. Kyle Smith, Jr. worked his way into second on lap nine and started to close the gap but Wicker was not to be denied and capture the win. Wickers machine had a motor borrowed from fellow competitor Duke Davidson with setup help from Jon Lee. Smith finished second voer Nesline, Adam Pletcher, Mike Benton, Brandi Mills, Amber Mills, John Hayes, Brian Savino and Shane Nihart. Smith and Nesline were the heat winners.

Kyle Hardy invaded the speedway driving the Troy Swindell #21* and came away with his first win of the season in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature. Clate Copeman grabbed the lead as the green dropped and looked well on his way to win number one. Copeman was leading when a caution came out on lap 11 that he was charged for sending him to the rear. This gave the lead to Hardy who held off Shawn Claar the final 14 laps for the checkered flag. Claar took the runner up spot ahead of Mike Blose, Scott Rhodes, Copeman, Bobby Watt, Dan Lee, Joe Zulisky, Randy Smithley and John Wayne Weaver. Rhodes and Blose took heat victories.

The smooth moving night took a drastic turn during the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models. A multi-car wreck on lap two saw one driver going for an ambulance ride and a wait until another arrived. Robert Cossell, of Mt. Pleasant, lead the first five laps before he drifted up and Dave Blazavich slipped by to lead lap six. Cossell came storming back to retake the lead on lap seven. Another caution on lap 14 took out the cars for Jeremy Shaffer, Clint Hersh and David Lee. On the restart Cossell, who was debuting a brand new XR1 Rocket Chassis, drove off for his first Dog Hollow win. Mike Laughard was second followed by Dave Blazavich, Tim Storm, John Eckenrod, Jeff Compton, Joe Moyer, Troy Shields, John Wayne Weaver and Jon Lee. Grabbing heat wins were Dave Lee, Tim Storm and Jon Lee.

In the nightcap Pat Brehm won his fourth DM Craig Fabrication & Welding Services 4 Cylinder feature of the season. Brehm beat Brady Miller, Jack Theys, Zack Wissinger, Mike Potter, Cody Young, Chuck Dizzle, Jessica Noel, Tanner Lansberry and Mike Phillipson. Heats were won by John Costa and Jack Theys.
