Save your effort D1RT....Theese steel block boys remind me of the Down in the mouth Ford Boys of Yesteryear! They are persecuted...and discriminated against....even when you ar trying to help them! They are just as good as the next guy! They just don't get it! Heck....I heard Scott Bloomquist orderd all new Steel Blocks for next season! As for me...I'll be getting a cold one and Joining my Bleacher creature want to be buddies!

i don't think they are saying steel blocks are they only way to go...they are just saying on this track they will be on equal footing...no matter what you drive why wouldn't you show up for a shoot at 1k a week...some specials don't even pay that much...

Agreed! My last post on this subject! When Jim Michney first tried melting the two divisions together in 2006...he was 2600lbs! It was a level playing field! But the bigger money boys wouldn't come, because they didn't have an advantage! ! So he then lowered it to 2400. Then they came! And when they came....they won! If Dave Satterly....Rick Strong....or Sheetz McGarvey showed up(With aluminum engine cars weighing 2400) They won! History will repeat itself! Sheetz won the last championship in the combined division there in 08! All I tried to point out is that most aluminum engine Ford powered cars allready weigh 2400 or close! So how are you penalizing them??? I am trying give the Iron Workers a better chance at winning....and they think I am against them! Rick Singleton wins open motor races with an iron Block...as does Rod Phillips... Dick Barrton.... and several others! But they win because they are superior racers! They would win an aluminum motor car as well! I am sorry ....but the everage Steel block racer is no competiton for the big buck guys! Like it or not! And the big buck buck guys don't want to race with the steel blocks as a rule also! Because most steel block cars like to tear a boddie a night off! Look at the cars that run this division some time! So I don't see it working...SORRY! But if you are going to try it...make it an even playing field! Just my .02 I have never attended at race at this track! Maybe some day! But if I come and see a lousy run away race...I won't be back for sure! Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally your right about something !!!! Guys with nice stuff are not going to bolt on an extra 300 lbs of lead to go run demo derby style up north . The pictures I see of cars up that way are what I would expect to see cars look like after an actual demo derby at the county fair . 2300 is Lucas weight and a lot of local tracks are 2250 !! Who is building these fords that are 200 lbs heavier than a Chevy ??? Cornett and RYR stuff is pretty much the same weight as a Chevy ... A dart aluminum block is 95 lbs and a dart iron eagle is 205-210 are you trying to tell me Rhodes machined a hundred lbs out of a 210 lb block ???? If so I have some magic ohlins shocks ill sell you for 2 k each !!!

not all steel block guys drive like that , you have a couple idiots that can ruin the division, if they went to superlate those couple idiots could ruin that class too. there are too many idiots who think if i cant pass you i will hit you, and they are the ones who go through bodies like crazy, i know steel block guys who run the same body a couple years and it still looks decent, so its only a few who race demo derby style and it is the ones who cant drive that are always crashed.

Don't forget, in 06 Dog Hollow also dropped the pay to $700 to win from $1000 to win. That is why the big cars quit coming. Now Dog Hollow is $1200 to win and gets a pretty good field every week.

Here is what i don't get a guy comes in here from New jersey who is not even a track owner, and buys a track that is sitting and falling apart since 2007 and puts his hard earned money in a place for us to race, that we have wanted reopened since the day they shut it down and all anyone can do is BITCH ! if you were at the meeting this is the deal .... there is 1500 dollars right now in the street-stock points fund ... right now meaning the first race. the track will add to that every week and at the end of the year if you have competed in 80% of the races, the money will be paid out to the racer's at a nice banquet , all he asks is the drivers wear a nice shirt and a tie ( if you don' t have one he will buy you one )lol the rules were up for discussion and if you didn't show up to voice an opinion then you had your chance. street stocks pay 500 to win late-models pays 1000 dollars to win and the front wheel drive cars pay 225 to win i don't know what the other classes pay but he started out the street stock meeting with this " you are all professional drivers weather you think you are or not because nobody is in this to lose money "then he says " I don't know anything about street- stocks ..pure stocks .. or late models all i know are sprint cars so you will have to decide what rules you all agree on" and we all voted on the changes . please give this track a chance and see how things go i am sure for the first few weeks there are going to be growing pains there always are . but i am sure also that with the determination these people have this could be a real nice place to take the family on a Saturday night . he also said about having kids promotions every week because he wants the younger people to come back because the future of racing depends on the younger crowd . and here is my last thought if you don't want to race there take your stuff to the classifieds section and sell it for a bass boat or something because i have been to a lot of tracks and this seems like a hard deal to beat.everyone have a safe winter we want to see your smiling faces in the spring !!!! can i get off my soap box now ?

But not ONE decision is going to be made because of stuff on here.. He wants a valid question or opinion from an identified person.. Agree 100% with this too.

The thing is, its not the locals who are going to support this venue regularly that are bitching.... its those that MAY turn up ON OCCASION.

The PA Vintage Dirt Modifieds will be there for a couple of rounds of our Series in 2013 and I for one, am looking forward to it.

really does anyone here believe a steel block can compete with a real late model? yes the top 4 or 5 steel block guys in the area will beat the yoyo's that shouldn't be in a latemodel anyhow! and may upset a good latemodel once in a great while... but steel blocks around here, even the best ones will NEVER win against miley, satterlee, chub, bloomer or owens on a regular basis!! anyone on here that don't realize this ain't to bright........That said I don't think the big name guys will race here anyways,, but like said here before theres always one guy that will spend 10 billion dollars just to win there

You are comparing talent and experience, not aluminum vs. steel blocks. Those guys aren't good because they have tons of money to put into their cars, they're good because they know what they're doing and made a name for themselves. You can get the same power out
of a steel block, the only difference is it is a little heavier. Only downside to using a steel block is you can't add as much lead to the car and put it where you want it.
