If the land....or possibly a portion ...... is selling, it will likely be a some years before the speedway is closed. Expecting industrial zoning not residential. ...and yeah I know what the PG put in print. The previous uses(mining, racetrack and trucking byproducts) may lead to interesting soil sampling. There is plenty of virgin land throughout the area. Maronda Homes has huge tracts of land out that way just sitting.

if they were constantly putting money back into the facility and increasing the taxes paid, the track would be an asset instead of a liability to the township..but they have run the place down to the point where we get excited when we see a few new lightbulbs.I don't have any insider info but if you don't think the township sees all those tax dollars on say 200 new homes at $250-$350K each versus the amusement tax income the track brings in I'm afraid I've got some bad news....
how do you think the township views the place?

Ah yes, the double edged sword. Pay to make improvements on your House/property, so you can pay the Gov't more taxes on it, so that they MIGHT not steal it out from under you later!🤑if they were constantly putting money back into the facility and increasing the taxes paid, the track would be an asset instead of a liability to the township..but they have run the place down to the point where we get excited when we see a few new lightbulbs.

People that lived around Heidelberg, use to bitch an complain about the place. Then when it closed and they lost the entertainment tax they collected, (remember the $.25 cents they collected for parking?, That covered the some of the entertainment tax). Plus the township tax per ticket. So they had to make up that money somewhere, as in higher homeowner taxes. The funny thing was, Heidelberg was built in 1948, so it was there long before most of the houses were built around the place. The same goes for PPMS. It was built in 1979, so a lot of what was is now around the place, wasn't there in 1979. Years ago they said airport expansion would eventually close the speedway. Now it's this road. PPMS is one of the few tracks in the area that pays an entertainment tax,

The road isn't closing the track. In fact the new road isn't going to be anywhere near the track. That's why it boggles my mind that people actually think the road is going to bring big development to the township. If anything the new road will mean less traffic will down Route 22 through the township.

You gotta wonder what mite have happened ???
If housing was a issue were PPMS stands local government would force them to close up just for tax dollar intake.
