The 4 barrel supers were basically like the Iceman cars...I know because we ran with them...I thought the last year we were there we ran the 4 barrel, but I'm probably wrong about that...I believe the 2 bbl was compatible with J-town?

4-bbl's didn't run at Jtown for quite awhile (stopped in early 90's I believe). I remember running the restrictor plate 2-bbl there. Yawn.

i guess i must have missed something but where in the heck does he think all the cars are coming from?like i said the last guy was handing out free passes and no matter what classes he ran there was never more than 100 people in the stands ,so how is this upcoming season going to turn the past seasons around ?good luck and i really do mean that but it seems to me if the place was ever going to make it they would have never tried the dirt over the pavement in the first place , if the dirt track was done right and not just put dirt over the asphalt they were drawing good crowds and also good car counts but the asphalt needs to go completly and not be covered over .good luck guys you are going to need it . i believe every race fan needs a track to go to so i hope this place proves me wrong .

I agree 100% Race, if this speedway is to come back to its glory days, it will be after the pavement is gone and clay covers that 1/2 mile track..

First of all Bainey's are not going to go back to dirt...Dirt = a lot of work, I do not believe they have the time to mess with that...so as long as the Baineys are in charge I don't think you will see dirt up there...
as for the history that Ramey36 and I have been discussing ((and Ramey36 probably heard about it also)) Jennerstown dropped the 4bbl class in 1995 - Clearfield never dropped the 4bbl class, and they had the same rules everywhere, down South, Iceman etc...they were the same rules with very minor changes....Clearfield also ran both classes for a while...

I believe they could in fact get cars from all over to attend - lets say a 20 car count for SS. It would take a good bit of effort and would not be cheap for the track. Preregistration would be key. besides Drome where are local SS guys goin? Highly doubt Jtown will have more than 6 cars and drome I expect 10-13 weekly. In reality a lot of asphalt guys may be more interested in running special events... A lot of guys hate points racing. I have no doubt we could've been a 1 or 2 car in both SS and Chargers last year as we won abt 50% of the time we raced our two cars(thx. to A.K. Family who made it all possible)-points racin is too much $ and time-too few sponsors. Guys like myself running limited schedules are increasing-I can pick and choose as we did last year. Why would we not pick big events IF they made it advantageous? Just a thought.

when you would rather have 3 races and about 20 cars total and maybe 200 fans rather put the effort into dirt where you know cars and fans will come that should tell you about all you need to know

suhoney, Not sure what you are saying.
CNB is a paved track.
The question was, Who wants to race in a street stock at CNB.
No one asked about dirt tracks.
If dirt tracks have cars and fans that's great for them.

you see that's all the dirt guys WILL and CAN say-they will beat this dead horse... The track could succeed and many would still say something abt making it dirt. They've even done it fairly recently with Motordrome postings. Give me a break already-Im surprised you didn't see more posts when less tv viewers were watching Nascar-I can hear it now 'put dirt on those tracks and blah blah blah. That logic abt 'put the effort into dirt racing...blah blah blah. Put the effort into asphalt racing with big series racing-plenty of advertising...you'd have the same positive results. Any way you look at it with things the way they are - its going to take time....

Everyone forgets....It was paved to start with because it wasn't profitable as a dirt track! Neither of those tracks up there have ever been able to stay open! No matter the promotor or the surface! Although the small track has only ever been dirt! I think it has a better chance being a pavement track! The problem is the Location is bad! So you have to be something different....that isn't everywhere else to draw people to come up there! Ie; A Pavement rack with specials that people want to see! Don't ever see it being profitable as a Saturday night Venue! Wrong Location! Just my 02. We used to go up there for the Yankee Doodle every year! I hated that trip! No where to get breakfast on the way home! LOL

wow here we go again .... it was paved in the first place because Wallace was promised some kind of nascar deal and the guys that did run there actually had a nascar drivers license ,as for location the place is like 4 miles off of route 80 and the truck-stop is right off clearfield-exit and they are open 24 hours a day . they did make money as a dirt track but you cant sell your nascar driving son on a dirt track .

Bad location? A few miles off of I80 and basically right on 322, I80 being a MAJOR east west artery and 322 going from Erie down into New Jersey. I don’t think location is the problem, unless of course you go one step further and declare the state is the wrong location. Airlift that place down south, and it might be a totally different story, although before you say it, I realize that there are tracks failing there also.
I believe that there are just so many other activities now other than racing vying for people’s time that motorsports as a whole could be getting left behind.

it might not have been "successful" as a dirt track but I guarantee it was a lot more successful than what the asphalt has beenwow here we go again .... it was paved in the first place because Wallace was promised some kind of nascar deal and the guys that did run there actually had a nascar drivers license ,as for location the place is like 4 miles off of route 80 and the truck-stop is right off clearfield-exit and they are open 24 hours a day . they did make money as a dirt track but you cant sell your nascar driving son on a dirt track .

Walace was big buddies with James Hylton! He talked him into paving it! It was the right Idea at the right time! Don't think it was ever Nascar sanctioned under Ferd Walace! Not saying its not accessable by highway! Just saying Coal isn't "King" any longer and not many people with jobs up there to be able to afford to go to the races! Never made any scence to me when they put the dirt back over the asphalt...when you are a pavement racing family. The problem with the big track as a dirt track was that it was too hard on equipment! Although it did enjoy some sucess with the billboard cars. Stan Lasky went up there and ran good a couple times. so thats why they paved Jennerstown! Which paving Jennerstown was the biggest mistake ever in racing history! Jennerstown was the nicest dirt track in the Country! Huge mistake! Motordrome should of stayed dirt as well! PMS is the track that should of paved! They should of picked up right were Heidleburg left off. Its the right Venue for pavement racing.I also think Lernerville might of done well also as a pavement track! Once again..the right Venue!

And that was the reason guys like Steve Peles, Glenn Gault, and others left up there and hauled to Jennerstown and Motordrome. The NASCAR weekly racing series paid out some great money and if you won the regional and national championship it paid even bigger money.
