Crusty. I agree 100%. I think the sportsman guy's have gotten screwed for years. They have been last feature forever. I to would like to see how many people are still there if one of the big 3 where last feature. I have always felt these guys should get some respect at least 1 time a month or something.

This is a very interesting topic. But I have to agree that you have to preserve what numerous teams and families help build. Its a shame that certain teams along with management were allowed to destroy what was one of the exciting classes at the 'ville.  But why dont you all get together and start something like the UFO series and race at area tracks maybe once or twice a month with the old rules? Something to think about. If you really believe in this class do something to save it. There is power in numbers!

That's  what the West Penn Stock Series does.

This just may be the shot in the arm the Penn Ohio series needs.. I have been to a handful of the Penn Ohio races. They put on a very good show.

They put on a very good show. The question is will promoters give them the opportunity to grow. The piggly wigglies from that crate series wants to take them on the road with there late models. They are already doing that with the mods and paying nothing. This guys bring in a good backgate, usually 3 to 4 in the pits per car.

Soon they will put the crate motors in the sprints, dump the supers and big blocks, and lernerville will become the crate track of pa. With crate sprints lates mods and stocks. I cant wait lol!!!!!!!

Penn-Ohio? Those cars run roller cams, racing transmissions and other items that have damaged the class MUCH more than crate motors ever could! In fact crate motors are STOCK, which is what the class used to be! Not a roller cam class. It seems people just like to hate an idea and will praise something bad in defense.

LM Racing - they announced 2 weeks ago Dirt is starting a Crate Sprint Series, 602 engines.

Legend - as far as a crate being fun to drive, i'm not sure how someone could tell the diffrence. If you have a 400 hp 358 and a 400 hp 604 ....... Maybe try one.

Steet Stocker- i think your comments are why they are pushing to the crate and i think this is just a start to get the Sportsman under control. The Nesmith rules from down south seem to be the future rules of the stocks.

I still think they should let LV alone i think the rules from 2015 were fine.

I would agree that 400 hp is 400hp but I'm comparing 850 to 400 ...

This debate will go on forever. Crate racing or no crate racing. One thing that has promotors attentions is I believe most regional crate racing purses are much lower than say SLM. Everyone, including me, believes there is a back gate advantage going on from someone. Whether it is RUSH, SWEENEY, or whomever. There is benefits for these promoters that are going in that direction.

I have seen some good crate racing. But, when I see a late model rolling out of the pits. The last thing I enjoy is what there racing gives the paying customer. I have seen the crate modifieds twice at lernerville. Somebody please, shoot me now. All you could hear going into turns 1 and 3 is there motors bouncing off the Rev limiters. I no, I no, they only run 602 motors I believe.

In the end the promoters pockets are going to determine the direction of local racing. I think you'll still see SLM,MODS, SPRINT CARS on a limited schedule. Be it specials only or ???

Again, time is going to set the stage for the racers. We can only hope enough will be around for a good show. Look at Barbarra, Blouse, Blair, Miley, Angelicio, I don't think any of these guys have what you call a home track anymore. They pic and choose. JMO, but, more are likely to follow.

It's UMP rule, like every late model race at Lernerville.

$25 isn't bad for Saturdays show.  If there's nothing else going on it should be a fun show.

Butt I have a question.  Not that the $25 is going to make or break me but it might break the new owners.

What is the rainout policy?  Yes I did try calling the track before posting, but no answer.  Maybe there not there or maybe there out to lunch, but I did try calling first.

Will the new owners get stuck for making good Dirt rain checks or will racers and fans be able to mail in stubs for a refund?

Since I think it will be the last Dirt owned show there, might Dirt offer a refund at the track?  I wonder if the new owners have thought about getting stuck making good rain checks, if Dirt bails on them if it rains out?

dirt offers all refunds after the show has been complete if it got rained out or not rescheduled.
