There is no 3rd late model class, only 2, there will be Late models and semi-late models. The semi late rules are basically a full late model with a motor restiction of 358 ci (and some other motor restrictions) and a shock restriction. They are doing a little more research on the motor rule for the semi-lates before they post them, but that is the basics. The late models are open with a 2400 lb weight rule. Give it some time and the semi-lates will be your biggest class!

So I take it by what I'm reading that there will be no combined steelblock and superlate class?

Yes there is a blended open late class; the steel blocks and aluminum block cars have to weigh 2400 pounds. The semi lates are basically as stated a 362 cu inch engine rule with a 320 lift cam (hydraulic or solid, no rollers) and 1.5 rocker so in essence a 480 lift rule, no 604 crate engines but the 602 will meet the engine rule. No dry sump no spoiler and aluminum wheels are permitted. This class is intended to be there hobby class; a person can purchase a older LM chassis and build a relatively inexpensive engine and be competitive. It is not the same as bedford/thunder valley; hagerstown etc. the engine/shock and spoiler restreictions are greater. The shock rule for SS is no adjustable shocks, no coil over shocks and no Schrader valves. The Shock rule for the semi-lates is no adjustable and no schrader valve coil over shocks. Jeff said he is committed to the semi-late class for three years to get it started and developed.

i could see this "semi" late class being a transitional class from street stocks or pure stocks to late models. but as in every class you'll have guys stick with it. hopefully all this stuff works out! it'll be interesting to see how they run. and who goes to that class.

Thanks Scott, it will be great to have 2 classes of late models to watch next year. I always said there needed to be a stepping stone from street stocks to late models, this will be a great addition for the guys not having the big bucks to run a full blown late model. ;)

just wish they would have left out the clip cars, to much of an advantage in the rear compared to our metric cars.

just my opinion

on these semi-lates, is there a wheel size? i'd personally like to see them on 8" wheels, low cost, with the small cube limit they'd still hook up okay. economy-late models =)

14 inch wheel 1100 series tires. this class is going to grow faster than any other in the area. All those older chassis will be put back together and have a place to go race.

As far as the SS clip car, it must be steel square 2x3 frame, not much advantage over a stock frame that has been pre-loaded. No round tube frames.

it will be an advantage because you can move the mounting points to improve the way they work

Hi Scott.

You can move them on the metric chassis as well. there are very few rules on suspension parts except the gas shocks and adjustable shocks. You can put a rack ad pinion in if you wish.
Put your brackets at whatever angle, use whatever bracket you wish. No working birdcage, no coilover and no 3 links. Pretty simple.

This semi-late class sounds like the old super stock class that Marion Center ran for many years except ARP has an engine rule.

In the street stocks, will they be running stock appearing bodies, or those munster mobile looking things?

Late model bodies and engines(less aluminum heads) and tires on purestock frames for the sreeet stocks.I would love a crate SS class.
