To me, this is what a true street stock should look like. ;)

in my opinion that is what a "pure stock" or "stricktly stock" should look like. in a street stock you should be allowed to run aluminum bodies, STOCK appearing nose AND tail piece. with a matching roof! if you have a monte carlo nose piece, make it look like a monte carlo. or mustang, or whatever it is. otherwise call them "Super Stocks" and leave it at that

too bad you guys were not at the meeting stock appearing cars only received 2 votes and i was one of them . :P i don't mind the late model noses but the elephant ears need to be tucked in tight to the body and the body should be shaped a little and not straight sided .

Well I don't run a car, I'm just giving a fans point of view. I agree completely with the body shape, otherwise it will look like 3 classes of late models out there and the new people to the sport won't be able to tell the difference.

I agree that most of the street stocks do not look like stock cars anymore. But, there is a shortage of good replacement parts available in the junkyards. Buying new is not always an option for most racers. Aluminum sheets although not cheap, are fairly easy to repair. I would like to see stock appearing cars, but not at the cost of low car counts. If you want your favorite street stocker to have his car look stock, pony up some money to help him or her out. I am sure that if everyone who does not like how the cars looked on the track would buy a body for the racers, they would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a street stock to me. Cody Butterbaugh who races at Bedford builds his own body's and they look like an 80's Monte Carlo factory body.

The people that run a body that look like latemodel on a street stock are to lazy to put more bends in there bodies. They can make them look almost stock. Fans like to see a car that look stock.

Anyone who honestly believes the body style of the street stocks effects the fan count at local race tracks is delusional , drunk or high !!

I don't think it effects the fan count. I know first hand the difficulty explaining to a "first time" fan the mechanics and rules of each division. IMHO - I think it really comes down to tradition. Kinda' like when a football team changes their jersey. *edit due to coffee not having full effect yet.

The ppl that want a stock body can have them if they want to. noone said they have to look like the rest of the cars on the track. If your gona run a steel body over the late model look then price the sand paper , prime, and paint and the tell ppl what body is cheaper. Aluminum comes in any color you want and all you have to do is bend it and put it on. The md3 nose does cost around $120 more then a stock 85 ss nose but if your running street stock on 10'' tires your car is almost 80" wide and that nose is only 66'' wide, so if you want your tires to hang way past the body go for it, its your choice. Look at the bodies dave kline puts on with the late model nose. those cars look great and they arent out of control at all. This year alot of guys ran that nose without going out of control with it at all. Street stocks anymore are run what you brung and hope you brought enought. If you dont like the rules move to the semi late class and your problem is fixed.
