should be a roof and nose piece rule for sure. not that anything aerodynamic would make much of a difference on a track that small, but just to keep all of the complaints down. because let's face it, there is a car that everyone like to complain about haha at least one that comes to mind

I would love a crate SS class.

I'm pretty sure Mercer tried this and it failed. They didn't give it much time at all though.

Was anything said about the Micro Sprints?

HERE ARE THE SILVER SPRINGS/WILLIAMS GROVE/HAGERSTOWN/BEDFORD/SUSQUEHANNA 358 LATE MODEL ENGINE RULES. I THINK THAT MAYBE BEFORE THEY FINALIZE THE SEMI-LATE MOTOR RULE THEY CONSIDER SOMETHING A LITTLE CLOSER TO THESE RULES, WITH A NO DRY SUMP CLAUSE ADDED. I THINK THE SEMI-LATE MOTOR RULE PROPOSED AT THE MEETING IS TOO VAGUE AND WON'T BE AS COST EFFICIENT! Engines limited to 358 cubic inches. 2. Block must be a standard production block or approved after market block that was less than 358 cubic inches originally. No aluminum blocks. Chevy bow-tie block and Ford SVO block permitted. 3. Crankshafts must be factory production or stock dimension after market cast iron or steel crank Stroke must remain stock. Crank may be turned a maximum of .040 under. No swapping of cranks. Ford SVO crank with part number M6303-H351 permitted. MOPAR high performance crank with part number P4120312 permitted. All cranks must be a minimum of 46 pounds in weight. Penalty for using a light weight crank to be suspension for season in addition to penalties outlined in general rules. 4. RODS - A production rod from a V-8 engine under 358 cubic inches. Modification of rod length prohibited. Rods, block and crank to be used in the same combination that factory originally manufactured. Any stock dimension steel rod (No titanium) may be substituted. Stock dimension includes length, wrist pin location and journal size. Approved after market rod must be in factory condition, no polishing or reworking. No addition or removal of metal other than normal balancing. All 350 engines must have a 3/4 inch inspection hole in the left side of the oil pan opposite the number one rod journal. Any windage tray which would block the view of the rod must be removed. Ford permitted to use 6 inch length rod with SVO crank. 5. Flat top pistons only. Zero deck, piston may not be above the block. 6. Any factory steel head, or DART/ World Products Sportsman II steel head. DART/World Products head must have casting number of I037. Heads must have a 60 cc minimum combustion chamber, no grinding in chamber. No aluminum heads. No relocating rocker arm studs. No porting or polishing. Matching ports in the intake port of head only. Depth maximum for matching ports is 3/4 of an inch. Lifter bore must remain stock. The valve seat area can be cleaned up using a maximum 80 degree grinding stone. No additional hand or machine work permitted. CC measurement of intake runner of head to remain stock with the exception of matching port. Vortec heads permitted with approved casting numbers of: Small port #25534351 and Large port #25534371. RHS ProAction cylinder heads permitted for Ford engines with approved part numbers #35301, #35302, #35303. 7. Production valve or production replacement, steel or stainless steel only. Any spring, any retainer permitted. Roller rockers permitted. Stock valve guide angle. No relocating valve guides. 8. Flat tappet cams only. No mushroom or roller cams. 9. Block must be cast iron. All factory identification numbers and/or part numbers must remain on crank and heads. Main bearing cap must be iron or steel. General Engine Specifications –– 1. Balanced assemblies optional. 4. Must have a working clutch and starter. Multi-disc clutch permitted. Stock configuration clutch must have a full scatter shield of at least 1/4 inch thick steel or an approved bell housing. Failure to do so will result in an automatic suspension and loss of points. 5. Fuel - Racing gas or Methanol only. No additives of any kind including top lube. Methanol according to Federal Standards of Purity, Grade A or AA. 6. No electric fuel pumps or pressurized fuel systems. No inboard (in driver’s compartment) fuel pumps. 7. Gear drive units permitted. No externally adjustable cam timing device. 8. i agree silver springs rules are best bet. a large group of people already agree with that class. multipal tracks run these rules in pennsylvania. methanol is by far the cheapest fuel. methanol saves engines. with no dry sump system engine oil temps go too high in hot weather. methanol fixes that and saves money all the way around. i surely hope an open fuel rule is used so we have choices. we all want this to be cheap as possible so the class grows real big real quick! jake shady

Herman's car was a 4 door model "a" FORD and grand pa's was a casket on wheels !!!!! :P :P :P :P what Chevy 1a was referring too was the late model noses and the elephant ears and the flat bodies that everyone runs . fans in the stands want to be able to identify the classes by the looks of the cars and it was brought up for a vote and the majority of the drivers want their street stocks to look like a late model. i just don't like that look and have been given a lot of compliments on the stock appearing car i run and in my opinion Animals last car was by far one of the sharpest cars on the track 2 years ago, but like i said that is just an opinion , i would like to know what the fans think.

as a fan, i agree, stock appearing nose and tail should be used for looks and to tell the difference between a SS and LM as some of them are almost identical in looks. But is it cheaper or easier to use the LM nose? Some have bumbers that wont allow a stock appearing nose without modification.

it's easier in my opinion. the bumpers can be changed, but it's just easier to get everything to line up with LM nose's. i think street stocks should have to run an oem tyle tail piece though. this would make it easier for fans to tell them apart, and would keep alot of the LM nose guys happy.

Just a fans opinion... the classic style monte body is nice. It can be achieved with some work. Sleeper Chassis can bend a nice body. It separates the divisions. I'm not against new body style either as long as it kinda' looks like what you saw on the streets. I still drive a 96 Monte Carlo every day. Some of the bodies I see now... I can't stretch my imagination that far.

even though you are mean to me and have bashed me more than once i will answer your question .... i have to run with the streetstocks because of the weight jacks and the way the suspension is it is just too much for me to change ,i do this just for fun and as a hobby i know a car like mine will probably never win a race with the engine i have but at the end of the night if you can laugh and have a little fun at the end of a hard work week than i can accept that ,as for my car it needs the power valves replaced in the carb and will have to be rescaled as it is 3200 pounds as of now so we can lose 200 pounds . like dylcris told me it ain't all about engine at this track, but i think too much is never enough. see you all in the spring and everyone have a safe winter we want to see those stands packed opening night !!!!

Wow!! So your saying your hobby car really does have modified weight jacks and suspension. Scott is right on engine size at a track like that. You could be like some people that have big cubic dollar engines and win some times but you need the brains to work the traction control GO pedal. A little advice take out the power valves and put plugs in there less problems. If you have a brake it is not hard to put an extra bend here or there to make the body to look stock.
